After watching the Coco Chanel movie for three hours, I wanted a long pearl necklace I could dress up or down. Since I already have a regular pearl necklace, I wanted this to be in the 50" to 60" range and I was not in a hurry but thought in the next month or two I would find the perfect strand or choose it for Christmas.
In that amount of time, every store I found it at, whether J. Crew where the pearls were real to Nordstrom where they were the Majorica, they have sold out! What happened here, is there a run on long pearl necklaces? I noticed Carrie wore them in the SITC movie too so did long pearls become more popular in a short time than I realized?

It´s just such a classic, I find that the long ones usually go pretty fast at stores

If you buy the 51" strand from American pearl, it comes with four mystery connectors. That gives you four strands that you can wear in 256 different ways. I thought that it was neat.
http://www.americanpearl.com/mysterypearls.html I have no idea if those movies have made long pearls more popular, but I just always have loved pearls.

I was looking at some pearls last week at a flea market/colletibles event close to where I live and this one booth, that had THE pearls I wanted LAST month had SOLD them (oh well) so I was looking at some others, and they were very long. The seller said something like "so you like the Sex & The City" pearls?. We are selling lots of them." (I loved the SATC tv show but am waiting for the movie to hit the top of my Netflix queue) so I am guessing long pearls are featured in the film. I love pearls, and enjoyed the 3 hours of Chanel tv movie too.

I love long pearls! I have a 36" pearl necklace and another Chanel long costume jewelry one. I always wear them. So timeless. I found a strand at pearlparadise.com and they were gorgeous!

HONORA always has long pearl necklaces in all colors. Their prices are reasonable as well. They have a website, but they dont show all of their collections online. They have long pearl necklaces in many lengths. The best bet is to go to their store on 57th and Madison. Not sure if they have any other stores than that, but I know Saks carries some of their lines.

I managed to buy some long fresh water pearls for my friends I got them locally for like $10 per strand.
If you know people here in PH, I guess you can ask people you know to buy for you from here. |

I love the long Chanel costume ones- I just can't justify paying that much for costume.

I also recently bought some really beautiful fresh water pearls, long strands one multi color and one all in pink in barbados. they were $25 each. I couldn't believe how cheap, not the best quality but for the price it can't be beat. In the US they are expensive.
