Question Jewelry store recommendations in Chicago or Michigan
Hi everyone!

I have a bit of a problem. You see, my good friend in Thailand owns a great / uber upscale jewelry shop and I asked her to remake my e-ring setting for me. More bling, a little more intricate, and overall WOW.

She'll be sending me the setting (I'm in the US) and my job is to now find a GREAT jeweler to mount it. I am incredibly scared about this part because I don't want any mistakes.

My current setting right now is great, but up close (REALLY up close) the stone is set a little crooked - so I am NOT going there again. The jeweler who made my ring the first time around was a regular/not so fancy jeweler and the custom job was quite cheap - hence the results I guess....

So now, I have to find a top notch jeweler, in Chicago or in Michigan (close to Ann Arbor) to mount my stone.

Any recommendations? Thanks so much!

In Michigan, I've always heard that Tapper's is a great place to go (West Bloomfield I believe). My family shops at International Diamond Importers (Rochester; ask for Arlene, tell her I sent you if you go).

In Chicago, I heartily recommend Jan Dee Jewelry on West Diversey (near Southport). Speak to Nancy.

It's a small store, but it's been around for a long time. They do excellent custom work. I had my mother's diamond lavalier turned into a ring and a necklace, I was thrilled with the results

Tapper's is a great store. I met them at a Chicago Trade Show a couple months ago. Very nice people and their store gets raves.
