Default Ippolita fans..... Any thoughts???
Today I was looking at the Ippolita jewerly in Neiman Marcus. I happen to love the various quartz bracelets in gold as well as the bangles. But, I have to ask, why are they soooo expensive? I know they are handmade, good quality gold and all. But the wieght in gold is not there. I really do love it, but hard to justify the price. Are there Any other designers make any bangles similar? The turquoise peieces are beautiful too!

I love the stuff too. I'd buy more but agree the prices are insane for what they are. The gold pieces are silver underneath and plated gold "to make them more affordable".

I found a beautiful pair of earrings at Off 5th(Vegas). They also had a quartz bracelet. You may want to look at the outlets for better prices. Gilt had them recently. I still thought their prices were to high too.

Saks is having 20% off jewelry for F&F. I thought about getting a bracelet.

The Gold is real Gold. They are not plated silver. The rose is a silver with copper. But the gold is real gold.

I checked out the sale on her website and, IMHO, everything should be 50% off. I remember her jewelry when it first came out and I can't believe how much her prices shot up! It was expensive then, but it's just insane now!!!

I love her designs, but I won't buy anything unless there's some sort of NM or Saks promotion going on or have a gift card to use to ease the price pain.

^^^I agree. I LOVE her designs and only wish I could afford them. Even with the 50% off, most of her stuff is still overpriced IMO.

I love the designs too, and I wouldn't think of paying full of price. All the pieces should be $200-500 cheaper before I would consider it. I feel like you're only paying for the name. The stones, as beautiful as they are, aren't worth that price.

I actually think the prices should be 50% off the sale prices...and then they would be reasonable.

they're nice pieces, but so overpriced i'd not ever buy. i'd feel ridiculous to spend thousands for like smoky quartz and the like.

On Gilt it says Made in China. Im shocked ! I know someone who works for the company and she has always said NYC. I must look into this.

^That's interesting. I thought they were handmade in NY.

Gilt's prices aren't great. Ippolita.com has more on sale at about the same prices.

I saw some at off 5th this weekend and even with an additional 40% off the gold bangles were still overpriced.
