at midlife, one has already collected a good number of 'real' jewelry. many times you get tired of wearing them (at least personally speaking) on a daily basis. i have now moved on to semi precious stone pieces that i find are just TDF! here are some of them -

i know what you mean about the midlife thing, except for me, it's the other way around...lol
for years, i wore costume jewelry or sterling silver pieces for fun until i got married, and even at that time, my wedding/engagement ring was the only nice/real jewelry i owned. just wasn't into it back then. plus, i was playing sports and skiing a lot, so all that "bling" wasn't practical for me. now that i'm 44 and been married for almost 15 years, my tastes have definitely changed. got lots of bling now (although nothing insane) and love it. wear it everyday! gorgeous necklaces, btw. beautiful! |

Thank you ladies! These jeweled bib necklaces are made by a local artisan here in Manila. She makes them by hand with semi precious stones like real turqouise, lapis lazuli, pearls, corals, etc... The smaller bibs one can wear for the day; the huge ones for night (perfect with a simple tube dress or top ;-) I will post sample pics on how to wear them.

This is made by Alan Anderson, who sells at Bendels and has been getting a lot of buzz in magazines like Allure, Vogue and Elle. His pieces have also been worn by Drew Barrymore and Lindsay Lohan, among others. He's also available now at Holt's in Toronto (and I have some available as well). This is several years old and no longer available, I don't think but he did something similar for Holt's in Toronto and I think one is still available.
The bracelets in my avatar were made by him (photographed by me)...
