Default Entry level luxury watch $6000 US?
Ok, so I've discovered I'm over the bags, shoes and clothes (....well maybe not quite).

BUT I've realised I'm missing something vital....a luxury watch. The thing is, I know nothing about watches. Have browsed and searched through the threads here, but I'm still confused about watch prices, but have figured out some top brands.

I'm particularly interested in Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audermars, JLC and IWC. OR any other top luxury watch.

So, was wondering what I could afford (entry level quartz or mechanical wise). Don't want to embarass myself looking at a brand I can't even afford - around $6000 US (or $5000-$10,000 AUD - I'm actually in AUS, but am heading to the states soon - Hawaii!). Also are watch RRP flexible? As they are in lower end luxury watches e.g. longines

I'm after something I can wear everyday, I'm only in my early 20s as well.

Watch experts help! I want to join the watch ranks!

And...I'm Rambling

I heard Rolex wasn't all that great in the watch hierarchy. Just in the middle tier. Have just recently talked to a few AD, and I think I'll have to try JLC. It seems to be in my price range.

Just a quick note, The Hour Glass (Sydney, Surfers Paradise, Melbourne) have a end of the year clearance sale on Swiss watch brands up to 60% off from 1-31/ Dec, so you might want to check it out before you make a purchase.

My family has bought many Rolex watches over the past 40 years. Make sure you look at what they have to offer. Some might be out of your price range, however, they are wonderful watches, and classic! I think you would love some of the newer styles!

My personal favorite would have to be chopard. It was my first real luxury watch.

I am in the same dilemma. I just found a website, chronocentric.com, that lists the watch brand hierarchy and what is considered luxury and not so luxury. You should check it out and scroll down to the bottom. They list brands and the categories they fall under along with their starting price ranges. It helped me to figure out where I want to fit in.

My favorite and dream watch is Piaget. I love the look of the thin face not thick like Rolex. My hand is to samll for rolex. Love Piaget the most.

I also suggest looking at Rolex or Cartier. I have a Rolex yachtmaster. Love it. I also have a Cartier Tank Francaise midsize. I know you can get the Tank for under $6,000 but not 100% about the Yachtmaster becuase it has a platinum dial and bezel.

my fave luxe watch is A. Lange & Sohne... gorgeous gorgeous watches. I will never own though... I don't think my DH could stomach me wearing a watch that expensive.

Have you checked out the timezone forums? lots of great watch info there for the newly born WIS.
