Here's mine - a .89 ct brilliant, D-color, SI1, excellent cut, platinum set with double prongs. I absolutely love this ring. We could have gotten a larger stone, but I tried some on and they seemed too big for my hands. I'm so glad we opted for quality instead...this one sparkles like crazy! I've been engaged for just two months, but I never get tired of looking at it.

I cannot seem to get a clear picture of mine on my finger, but here it is on my finger and a more clear picture of it in my jewelery armoire. It is an emerald cut flanked by tapered baguettes on each side set in platinum.

It's a 1.37 carat, VVS2, G color in the platinum Tiffany 6 prong setting, and my 2 wedding bands are the plain platinum knife edge and also a channel set eternity band from Tiffany's with the 3 pt diamonds around (it was 0.87 carats total if I remember right). |

I just found this thread, it is great! I recently purchased a 2.17 round tiffany style diamond ring. It is set in white gold. I was wondering if you guys think that the white gold makes the diamond look fake?
I ask because I was once screwing around in a store that had CZ rings (as well as diamonds) and I had a 6 or 7 ct on my finger and the lady said it was pretty. I told her it was fake she said that she "can always tell, she just has to look at the person". I don't think I will ever forget that. I have worn a 1ct princess cut ring (my engagement ring 3 years ago) and it is set in gold and platinum. I own an automobile repair shop and used car dealership. Somedays I get a little dirty working around the guys..all they have to do is brush against me or I have to brush against something dirty. So..I don't wear very nice clothing to work in..khakis and a tee or jeans and a tee... I was wondering if you saw some girl with raggedy clothes on with a 2 ct diamond set in white gold...would you assume that it was fake? Obviously this is annoying me to no end. I am thinking of having it reset in yellow gold... does that cost more? I mean obviously, but does yellow gold cost more than white gold? (If you had the choice prior to the setting) With any luck I can get a couple of pics of my rings up in the next couple of days. Also...I don't like to wear white and yellow gold together, but I don't want to put one of them away. They are both very pretty. Thanks ladies! Alicia- BTW I am new... |

Alicia ~~ I would keep the diamond in white gold. In my opinion, diamonds look best in white gold or platinum.
As for that lady--she may THINK that she can always tell, but no one can always tell from a few feet away if a diamond is real or not just by sizing the person up. In fact, I know people who are very well off who mix fakes in with their very expensive real jewelry. Don't worry what people think, just get what makes you happy. Obviously your friends and the people who know you will know that it is real! |
