Default Engagement Rings that aren't diamonds???
Hey everyone, this is actually my first post! Everyone around here seems like such a jewelry expert, so I'm hoping that I can get some assistance.

I am not much on diamond rings (insert collective gasp here!). I am looking for things that are simple, maybe a decorative band, and a medium (2-3 carat) stone. Preferably ascher, cushion, emerald cut.

I kind of like the hammered metal look. The closest thing that I have found are the sugar stacks by p.picasso or the pomellato nudo ring. I like yellow gold, but want to look at white gold options as well as those with some detailing on the band.

so does this exist? or did i just fancy this in my dream, nowhere to be found?

thx ladies!

This probably wouldn't work as an engagement ring since I think it only comes in sterling and yellow gold instead of white and yellow gold, but when I heard your description I thought of this James Avery ring.

My friend has this, and it's very cute. It has the hammered look in sterling silver for the band, yellow gold prongs, and a blue topaz in it. It may make a nice right hand ring for you.

I can't think of any hammered settings that I've seen. However, if you went custom for your setting, you could certainly do it! Have you ever gone to pricescope.com? They have a whole section on colored stones and you could also browse vendors and pictures of colored e-rings to get an idea of someone that might make a setting to your taste. They'd also be able to maybe make some other recommendations on vendors too for the actual stones.

Etsy.com has a fantastic new feature (Alchemy) where you post what you're looking to have made and the price you're willing to pay for it. Then various artists "bid" by explaining their take on your project and what their costs would be. You can accept or reject each offer and go from there. I recently had some diamond stacking rings made through the Alchemy section and it was a great experience. What's cool about it is you get creative control but artists will also give their input to come up with a design that fits your needs. Plus your piece will end up being a one-of-a-kind made by an independent artist. Good luck!

***Although this post sounds like a big advertisement, I am not affiliated with Etsy in any way. I just love to shop on the site!

I would check out designers Reinstein Ross and Gurhan and the websites Twist online and Ylang 23.

British brand Jeremy Hoye do many handmade, hammered style rings.
