Default Earrings - Please help me choose/find

Hi! I am looking to add to my jewelry box, and would greatly appreciate your input, suggestions, and opinions!

This started as a search for bridal earrings, but realized I will be wearing this afterwards as well, for dressier occasions etc.

My options are the top two earrings - the 5 stone (2 inches) and 3 stone (1 inch). My hair will be in a low bun, with the crown teased for a bit of height. I think the 3 stone would be more flattering with my updo, and the 5 stone would suit me more in real life (with hair down).

My style is pretty understated & minimal. My (small) jewelry box currently consists of small Tiffany .22 ctw studs, and .17 ctw pendant, soon to be Leon Mege pave band, and LM solitaire ering. I wear the studs & pendant everyday.

My ideal earrings are the bottom two, which I have yet to find within my budget. Any suggestions where to look?

My budget is $1500, preferably less. Is my budget unreasonable given what I am looking for? It's quite a sizeable sum for me, but I understand it's relatively low for diamond earrings. (I'd also prefer platinum).

I'd love your input, or suggestions for other pieces. Thank you for your help!

I can't view your pictures, I only see a little red cross.

i love the two styles that you picked. just as you have stated and described how each one could fit into your lifestyle, i agree how the 5 stone one would be more for everyday and the other one would be more dressier. However the 5 stone one would work up-do or down-do. however, i think looking for them in that price range would probably not really work. good luck finding it in that price range. i would think it costs around 2K for something like that and of good quality. on your special day i'm sure you'd like to shine as bright as the stars. my best wishes to you!

Hi aquablueness, thanks for your reassurance about the 5 stone! I'm hoping it will be flattering with an updo. Ideally I would get the three stone (or both! lol) but I think in the end the 5 stone would be more practical.

The diamonds by the yard from Tiffany is $2250 or so, and White Flash carries them in WG for $995 (f/g vs2 aca). I'm hoping they can do custom platinum for somewhere in between. Yes, I've seen less expensive options that left a lot to be desired.

Thanks again for your response! I feel much better about the 5 stone now.

I love them all! I think #1 is more classic, but, personally, I love #3 the best!! If #1 will look good w/ your hair on your wedding day, I would go w/ that, but, if it looks too long, go w/ ##2. You can always wear the 2nd pair after the wedding, just make sure to do something similar w/ your hair so that it has the same effect! These are all georgeous though!!

Hi digby, thanks! I do love #3 too. It was a surprise to my friends that I liked it as much as I do, but I think it's the perfect blend of fancy and simple. I love the pave, and the clean lines. Unfortunately, I've yet to find it in non costume jewelry; lol perhaps my budget will allow for it via a far off anniversary present. Thank you for your advice, I'm going to try #1 on for size today. I'm hoping it's not too long. As for #2, I'm not handy with hair, but if I end up with them, I'm certainly going to try! Thanks again for your suggestions!

Hi! Is this worth doing? Purchase Tiffany's Diamonds By the Yard 5 stone earrings, and remove the last 2 stones (possibly to be made later on into earrings?) I tried on the earrings at Tiffany's the other day, and they are too long. When I covered the last 2 stones, they were the perfect length (1.4-1.75 inches). I'm still waiting for a quote for custom earrings, but I anticipate it being high, just slightly under Tiffany's price. What would you do?

They both look very lovely! Good taste! I love the 3 stones. I think that you should get the one with 3 stones so you don't have to remove the last two stones.
