I like the idea of a pave band but I think a 4 prong setting looks better.

I second the recommendation for Leon Mege he does the best work. His prices are higher than Tacori but you are paying for the best.

But please know how delicate pave can be, especially if you ever want to pair a band w/ it.

I have 6 prongs now and I like less metal, I want to go to 4 or 5 prongs.

As Swanky I love super thin band and my solatire is set in 6 prongs, however I would like to reset it in 4 claw prongs or 4 prongs. The one problem with the thin band that I found is that when I was looking for a wedding band is that I had to get a thin wedding band otherwise it competed with the ering.

See the bands in my avatar? They are so thin and delicate they don't compete at all.
Well, at least I don't think they do!

I know what you mean, the beauty of a solitaire is it's simplicity, I LOVE that.

Thanks everyone. I plan to do a thin wedding band as well. Maybe I will re think my 6 prong preferance as I dont want to cover the stone too much.

I do love the Leon mege settings but I dont know if BF will want to spend that much if its more than Tacori. I would rather spend the money on the rock than the setting... hmmm so much to think about !

^you can always upgrade to a leon setting later on. spend your $$ on the stone and worry about the perfect setting down the road.

For this type of setting Leon's price may be comparable to Tacori. Just give him a call and get a quote--sometimes he turns out to be a lot less than people think. Just make sure you tell him your concerns about a wedding band because I know he's told others before that they simply can't wear a band with his three-sided pave settings. But I know there are other options.

Normally I think he is on-par with most designer settings. His solitaires with no pave, just plain plat, are usually $1500-1800ish depending on the size of the stone and how Platinum is in the market.

i have 4 claw prongs and i think the claws keep it looking rounder. my other ring has a very thin pave split shank, which i think is another good option for having a thin band that is still very sturdy. sometimes the very thin bands tend to bend and with pave the small stones will fall out of a bent setting.
