Question Difference between Tiffany chains?
Hello everyone!
I was thinking about getting a Tiffany charm & chain for a friend for Christmas... but I was noticing on the website that they have a "Chain in sterling silver" for $50 and a "Pendant chain in sterling silver" for $60.
Based on the photos, the Pendant chain looks a little thicker, but it's hard to tell for sure. There aren't any Tiffany stores near here, so I can't go see them in person.

I tried doing a search on tPF for this, but I couldn't find any relevant results.

Can anyone tell me if there's a big difference between these two chains?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

hmm, i didn't look on the website yet but thats odd....I have the elsa peretti mini open heart necklace and the chain that it came with is a 16" silver one and it is very sturdy! I wear it all the time and has proven to be extremely strong...hope this helps at least a little?

i don't know... i would contact tiffany customer service and ask them. it's only a $10 difference, so i'd probably get the $60 one, just to be on the safe side.

Hmm.. I have the small heart tag pendant and it has a thin, yet strong chain too.. I wish Tiffany would put size/dimensions in their item descriptions!

I suppose I'll just call them. Thanks!

Hi,
The chain that sells on the website for $50 is the same chain as the one you have on your heart tag pendant. The one that sells for $60 is slightly larger and personally I don't think it looks very nice. It is definitely less dainty and feminine looking however it might be good depending on which charm you plan on using it with. On a larger charm it might look okay. If you don't mind telling me what charm it is I could give you my personal opinion on which chain I think you should go with.

Ah, that's what I was wondering... I'm considering the sterling palm tree charm. Let me know what you think, I really appreciate it!

The sterling palm tree charm is cute but since it's 3-dimensional, the palm tree leaves are pointy and might be uncomfortable against the skin. Have you seen the teddy bear charm? I have it and I love it!! I also like the 3-D apple - might be my next charm!!!

Thanks Aquablueness!

I think that the palm tree would be best with the smaller chain because it isn't a very big charm. However, Peace43 was right, that charm is kind of pointy and may be uncomfortable. Personally I think the palm tree would be best on a bracelet.

I wish the same thing, and that they would show them being worn so I could get a better idea. Sigh.

Hmm, I didn't think about the pointyness of the charm, that's a good point! I really wanted to stick with a necklace... I'll have to see what else they have. Thanks for the help!!

How much are Tiffany Chains?

I couldn't find it on the website. I thought they were called necklaces, but nothing showed up (all has pendants attached to the necklace).

I wonder if they also tell us of the different sizes (16, 18, 20, 24 inches). I know some styles don't have certain sizes and some do.

thank

On their website, if you go to "Browse Tiffany Silver Jewelry" then change the Price Range to "Under $100" you'll end up with about 4 pages of merchandise. They have a few different basic chains there on the last couple of pages. If you go into the item description, there's a drop-down list of the different chain lengths available. They vary in price.
