When you're looking at a jewelry website at diamond studs, if it says "2 carats total" does that mean 1 carat in each ear or 2 carats per earring?
Also, ladies that have diamond studs, did you skimp on the 4 C's when it came to your earrings? (Compared to engagement rings) I'm looking to get a pair, but I never wear my hair up so I'm not sure if I need to have the most blingy pair of earrings. I might even settle for CZ studs if they look real enough, since I don't want to spend more than $2k for earrings and I would want at least 1.5 carats in each ear.. and from what I see, even low quality diamonds are running high in price.. |

carats total or *CTW* means total for both earrings. So, for 2 carats total, means approx. 1 carat for each ear.
I have seen advise that the 4C's can be skimped for earrings (compared to engagement rings), since it is an accessory that is (usually) not observerable close up. You will not be able to purchase good quality 3 tcw diamond earrings for $2K. I don't see anything wrong with CZ studs, if you are not willing to settle for a smaller size.. IMO, it's better to get CZ then get a "less than quality" large diamond stud earrings..... Use the "savings" when you have budget to get the diamond earrings that you want... |

yes cttw, means TOTAL, between both ears so in that case each ear would be 1 crt.
Cut is KING no matter where I wear it; ears, wrist, finger, etc. . . I skimp on color and clarity after. . . ESPECIALLY in the ears. I'd go to I color on the earrings and down to SI1 or SI2 even. |

^^^^^^^^^^ Totally agree, skimp on color and clarity for earrings, but don't be tempted to skimp on cut.Earrings tend to get a bit er,dirtier than ring stones etc, from hair products etc,so if they are'nt well cut will lose their fire and sparkle in hours, literally.
