Hi Ladies
This is my first post on this forum. As you probably guess from my name I am male. I am also a professional jeweler and my posts here will be focused on this particular section. I will appreciate if you give me your opinion about big brand's fine jewelry. Where the band name adds "value for money factor" to the piece? To make myself clear: A classic half round wedding band from "Cartier" is impossible to distinguish, from the same one made from a good goldsmith that respect his/her work, except from the brand name stamped inside, yet the price is very different. If you go a bit further, a solitaire diamond ring form Tiffany & Co still consist of a diamond set in a well made setting. For me, as a professional, is impossible to differentiate it from a ring made in my colleague’s workshop. Since the diamonds are certified and well classified by quality the difference can’t be there. Obviously when we view once off or small edition pieces the design factor becomes prominent and easy recognizable, however the topic I want to discuss is where is the border where brand name becomes a tangible value. I am sorry about the long tread. Regards Vasco |
