Default Cartier Love Bracelet White Gold...
Ever since I got the Cartier Love Bracelet in yellow gold, I thought it would be nice to have a white gold one to either wear on my right hand too or on my left hand with my watch :)

I noticed recently how second-hand/resale ones are SO MUCH less and I was looking at a couple in particular.

I just had a question, the one I was seriously considering, the seller said that it had been brought to Neves jewelers in Shrewsbury, NJ to be dipped in rhodium since the piece was brought to the ebay seller on consignment and at the time, she rated it 4 out of 10 because the WG looked so dull and there were fine scratches all over. AFTER it was dipped in rhodium (which she mentioned is very normal for WG to be dipped in rhodium every now and then as this is how it stays white vs turning yellow...???) she rates an 8 out of 10...

I guess I just wonder if dipping it in rhodium kind of "sealed" in all the other finer scratches since I still see fine scratches in her photos and I wonder if those will come out?

As I was under the impression with my Cartier Love Bracelet that IF i ever bring it into Cartier (or another reputable jeweler I guess) and they polished it...99% of the fine scratches from normal wear will be buffed out and it will look all shiny and pretty much clean surface/scratch free? I just know that my Cartier SA even mentioned not buffing it too much in their machine since each time it takes off a little bit of gold?

OHH, and do you think this piece being dipped in rhodium will void some sort of contract or warranty as in if I bring it into Cartier they wont touch it or polish/buff it out for me since they will be like "oh this has been dipped in rhodium, etc?"

the eBay seller DID mention that because of it being dipped inthe layer of rhodium, some of the markings inside the bracelet are not as easy to read but still legible...

Here are some pix of the piece I am considering:

but then there are others I find where it looks much more shiny and no scratches even though they are pre-owned and considered excellent/very good condition...so I dont know if its the lighting, the photography or that the one above is really in much worse condition than these others ones here:

ohhh and i was reading thru all the old threads i could find regarding this issue...and was confused...

are ALL Cartier Love bracelets WG rhodium plated, is it an option that you have to pay more for or you can just tell them at the time of purchase in the boutique...and what are the pros and cons of it being rhodium plated?

and any ideas on range in cost of having it rhodium treated/plated over time?

I have a rose gold cuff and have been hoping to get the white gold bangle to wear next to it. However another member on TPF wears a rose gold next to yellow gold and it looks amazing. After reading your posts, I think the WG sounds like a lot to deal with and I am now going for the yellow gold! It is also a little less money!

^^ oh nooo i didnt mean to scare anyone off from WG haha...i just had all these questions myself as id still like to get the WG one since it would go well with my WG jewelry and J12s etc...

i love the pink gold but i figured the pink gold and yellow gold would be too similar?

I bought my WG Cartier Love bracelet second hand too. Mine was re-polished in Cartier, and it looks brand new even though it was a rather old bracelet.

Personally, it worries me a little that another jeweller serviced the bracelet you are considering. You might want to ask why it was not sent back to Cartier.

^^thanks Minda for your reply...they said the closest Cartier was in NY and they are in NJ? not sure why...it seems to be a fairly reputable resaler on eBay and they have their own consignment boutiques (been reading up on them online and on tpf after i posted this)...

i guess i am worried about it being dipped in rhodium...was yours dipped in rhodium too at Cartier...is this a normal polishing/buffing service and if you dont mind me asking--how long did it take (did they do it in the local boutique or send it to Cartier NY and how much did it cost...)

Also, did yours look like the first set of pictures I posted on this thread, or did it look brand new and shiny with no scratches at all afterwards?

Cartier will charge $500 for rhodium replating and polishing.

I'm not positive, but are you sure the one you posted in the first post is authentic? the bracelet is so highly faked and there are often a number of fakes on eBay.

My Cartier pieces all have the signature in script - do they even do the block stamp? The story sounds a little strange to me - when you service/take something elsewhere, it can drop the value if they don't do it properly... to me, fading of the markings is a huge issue and I would pass.

i think i would pass on that. i think that would null and void cartier's warranty. keep looking, you'll find one

^C- the first pic. is a faked Cartier. I would be very careful on buying a Cartier LOVE bracelet on ebay, because I have seen alot of fake bracelets listed as authentic, my advise to anyone is to make sure you know how Cartier markings are, go to the boutique before hand to really educated yourself before buying any Cartier jewelry on ebay.

hiya!!!

ohhh so you're saying the first 4 pics (its of the same Cartier WG love bracelet) is a fake?!!

im just surprised but thankful for all of the help on here and everyone pointing things out to me...but the ebay seller has been acknowledged on TPF before and has her own consignment boutique online and actual stores in NJ so thats why I was a bit surprised...

i have my YG cartier love bracelet but i guess i didnt know if markings were different in earlier years since mine is only 1 yrs old...

For an item this much money. I'd buy directly from Cartier boutique. That way you know you are safe! I keep trying to figure out when I will be able to get my YG (switched from WG!) Cartier Love. It is looking like July!
