Can't remember the name of this stone. Help!

I saw this gorgeous ring in New Orleans for about $2K, and the stone looked almost like a quartz or a topaz and had just a very, VERY slight blueish tint to it. I asked the store owner what it was called, and I can't for the life of me remember what he told me, but it was definitely something I'd never heard of before. I'm pretty sure it started with an "m?" I'm hoping someone on here is really knowledgeable when it comes to gemstones and can help me out.

I want to have it as my engagement ring when the time comes, but it's a little hard to drop hints when I can't remember what the heck the stone is...
