Question Buying loose diamonds online?
Have any of you purchased loose diamond(s) online? I'm considering purchasing one online, but not sure if it's a wise choice. Any suggestion of which websites are trustworthy to buy loose diamonds?

Thanks!

Check out pricescope dot com. They are all about diamond education and a great reference!

I purchased a diamond online and had a smooth experience. I second Kitsunegrl, check out pricescope.com. I found my vendor from their recommended vendors list.

Whiteflash, James Allen and Good Old Gold are all reliable online vendors (there are many others as well). You can learn more about them at pricescope as the others have mentioned.

^I agree
I totally would, and almost did. But ONLY if it's a GIA or AGS stone, otherwise I wouldn't buy site unseen if I don't really know the jeweler.
Oh, and ONLY if they'll let me return it provided my appraisal wasn't acceptable.

Since you never know if you'll like the diamond until you see it in person I would recommend going with a company that offers free shipping both ways. Blue Nile comes to mind and I also like Brilliant Earth because all of their diamonds are conflict free as well as sourced ethically.

Pricescope is an awesome resource!

My DF went through Abazias Diamonds which is one of the recommended Pricescope vendors.

Their customer service was AMAZING....I highly recommend them!

Remember.....ALWAYS go GIA or AGS, nothing else!!!

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely check out Pricescope. I notice you guys mention GIA and AGS, what about EGL?

i used uniondiamond.com for my engagement ring and we had a good experience. my concern with purchasing a loose diamond is finding a jeweler to set it for you

I bought a loose diamond at Bluenile this year and I love it! Also I used the Holloway Cut advisor on pricescope to pick out a good stone.

EGL is known for their loose grading. Color and clarity are usually off by 2 grades, but that being said there are people out there who are happy with their EGL stones. If you decide to go that route, make sure you have the diamond looked at by an independent appraiser to make sure it is what it's supposed to be. For what it's worth, my appraiser (who is highly regarded on pricescope) says EGL stones that come his way rarely match up to the cert. They certainly require a lot more homework and research.
