you get what you pay for.. on bn you pick what 4c's you went.. like do you went high clarity.. or is the carat weight more important for you.. i read some of the yahoo complaints and ppl were complaining that their diamond didn't have fire.. but they didn't say what type of cut they chose.. if you choose a "fair" cut.. well of course you aren't going to get as much fire as a stone that's "ideal" cut.. i've ordered 3 things from blue nile.. all diamond related.. and all have been extremely well made and the diamonds sparkle like crazy.

p.s. i've actually been into tiffany & co. and i've had the SP's at tiffany's compliment me on my bn ring.. that should say a lot.

see for me i think it has a lot to do wtih the clarity. if the cuts are there and the stone isnt sparkling clear, you cant even see them. for me the least important is size. some people get obsessed with having a big rock. personally, id rather it have great color, clarity, and cut and be smaller than the other way around.

it depends on if you are planning on buying circle cut stone or princess cut.. lingbo105.. do you know which one you are planning on purchasing?? if you plan on buying a circle cut stone.. it's best to splurge for the best cut possible.. and go slightly lower on the clarity... whereas if you are planning on buying a princess cut stone.. or emerald it's much easier to see into the stone.. so you should splurge on the clarity.. and go lower on the cut.. unless you have unlimited funds! then you should get the best of both hehehe.

btw. i worked at tiffany & co. for a few years.

As long as a stone has a clarity of SI1 or better, you won't be able to see any inclusions with your eye. To the naked eye, an SI1 stone looks the same as a flawless stone. All other things being the same, you literally cannot tell the difference unless you are looking at the stone under magnification.

If a stone looks cloudy to the eye, it is most likely due to poor cut. Cut, not clarity, is what makes the stone look sparkly and clear. A great cut can even make a stone with some body color appear whiter and brighter.

This is so true. Had two pairs of 2ctw studs this week and one was E-F color and the other G-H. You could not see any difference IMO, between the color (granted I did go through about 14 pairs of 2ctw studs to pick through for the customer).

A lot of people also forget that diamond color is determined when the stone is loose and faced upside down. This is where the term "faces up white" comes from.
