You need the crown and pavilion angles for the HCA.

How much do the crown and pavilion angles matter and how can I find them. Are they on the GIA report?

GIA certs will show those %s/#s, you need them for that calculator for accurate results.

Yeah, I found them. I also sent an email to Bluenile because some of them were completely illegible.

Does anyone know if Bluenile also carries small diamonds (0,03-0,05 ct)?

I have checked the local diamond shop that I know them quite well. BN prices is still a bit better, but for the local shop I can see the diamond and for BN I can only see the cert....

I don't think so, but you can get a .25 carat necklace for $450 compared to $1000 at tiffany's.

I'd prefer to keep my business local w/ luxury goods for repair/trade in values. . . . plus I like to keep my $ local to support my town and friends

I feel the same way about keeping my business local. I try as often as possible.

My E Ring is BN and my HCA score is 2 - the price was great (GREAT) and I'm happy. Honestly, HCA score or not I truly love my stone.

blue nile!! blue nile is amazing.. my now DH and i did a ton of diamond research before we got engaged.. we went to tiffanys, cartier, shreve & co, chopard even mall stores like kay jewelers, zales.. i got a 2.5 carat engagement ring from blue nile.. the quality is amazing.. it's super sparkly :) i get compliments all the time.. and more importantly the price was amazing.. we paid less than what we would have paid at kay jewelers and zales even.. don't even start about the high end stores.. we had our ring appraised afterwards (it came with a GIA cert) and it appraised for $10,000 MORE than what we had paid.

Does anyone have thoughts on BN vs. Whiteflash?

Blue Nile - Ratings and Info
There are some really bad review. So i am scared away.
What do you guys think?

I have bought from Blue Nile three times and I am extremely happy with everything I have bought there. Their jewelry is so much better quality than you would find at the average mall jewelry store, and their prices are very good (on diamonds at least...you can find better prices elsewhere on pearls). Even my preset .25 ctw earrings from there sparkle like crazy.

I am so surprised to read all of those bad reviews on yahoo. I think it's because people are more likely to write a review when they have had a bad experience than when they have had a good one. Also, anytime you buy diamonds you have to know what you want in terms of the 4Cs or you could be disappointed.

I've never bought from whiteflash.com, but I've heard good things. I think their advantage over Blue Nile is that they have the diamonds in-house, and they can look at them for you and answer questions. So you could call them up and ask if an SI2 diamond is eye-clean, or how much color a particular J diamond shows, etc. Also I think they have a trade-up policy.

An earlier poster said that Tiffany's has better quality diamonds than BN...that's not true. You can find plenty of diamonds at BN (or Whiteflash) that are just as good of quality and sparkle just as much as Tiffany's, Hearts on Fire, or other retailers. People pay more for Tiffany's for the brand name, and for peace of mind that it's a trusted company.
