Default Antique Engagement Rings.
When I get engaged, I really want an antique ring. Does anyone know of any good, reputable sites that sell them? The only two that I know of and like are Lang Antiques and AntiqueEngagementRings.com.

Also, if anyone has an antique engagement ring, I'd love to see it and hear any advice you may have!

Thanks!!

Doyle and Doyle in NYC has a nice selection, too. Claude Morady in Beverly Hills has some, and I believe he sells via his website. Single Stone in Los Angeles has quite a few on their website, but they don't sell online from what I can tell. (Sorry, I don't know the URLs off the top of my head but you can find them on Google pretty easily) TBH they are all over. The diamond district in NYC has several dealers, some more reputable than others. I dealt with one who was great (didn't buy though) but I forgot his name. Even eBay has a lot, there are some reputable sellers- I would look for sellers with lots of positive feedback in fine jewelry sales.

With an antique piece, you need to keep in mind a few things. The stones will often not have GIA/EGL etc. certs, only appraisals and estimated gradings done with the stone in its setting. Also, a lot of antique rings are of lower color and clarity grades than diamonds sold today. Single Stone's website has a really good explanation of the things to keep in mind when looking at antique rings (http://www.singlestone.com/index.php?page=faq).

I do have one but I don't have any pictures of it ATM.

I love singlestone.com! I have it bookmarked on my computer and just "browse" when I have time...

Good luck!

Jewels by Erica Grace is another. Fay Cullen has some things too, but sometimes the workmanship leaves a bit to be desires from the looks of the finishing. I would just pay more attention there b/c I think the return policy is very strict/really limited.

* Dianne's Estate Jewelry in San Francisco -- http://diannesestatejewelry.com/
* Lang's as you mentioned -- HIGHLY recommend them, a mind-bogglingly large and high quality selection
* Singlestone -- fantastic old stones
* Darren McClung Precious Jewelry in Palo Alto, CA. No web site yet but they have amazing, one-of-a-kind, very high-end antique pieces. I'm sure you could work with them over the phone and they could send you images.
