Default Advice on ering
So after months of research and shopping my bf and I have finally found two rings that took our breath away. The first love that we saw was the Tiffany Ribbon. We finally went to go see it this weekend and I am in love! The SA was very friendly and helped alot in finding the right ring in our price range and in the specifications we wanted. The second love we saw today from a local jeweler its just as stunning and I have to say its beeeeaauutiful. The picture of the second ring is not in proportion to the diamond we are getting but just to give an idea of the setting. They are about the same price and I am in love with both! Any advice or comments would be awesome!

Hearts on fire Felicity ribbon setting
Center diamond (not the one pictured) will be a .54ct/E/VS1 AGS000 grade (diamond is not a HoF diamond)

Tiffany Ribbon
Center diamond (not one pictured) is .59ct/I/VVS2 - polish/symmetry/cut is all excellent. I also calculated the specs with pricescopes cut advisor and it falls in the AGS000 range. I also checked the GIA grading based on table and depth % and it is within their excellent range.

Both shines like no other!

wow this is hard choice I honestly really like the both. If they are the same price and same size carat weight I would get Tiffany's Ribbon though, however if the first one is cheaper or has a larger center stone I would get that one.

Default We've decided!
Thanks for all the advice!! So heres the LONG story of our ering shopping adventure!!

After a long discussion with my bf and lots of thinking, we decided with Tiffany. The HoF jeweler was so nice though and it was really hard to tell him we weren't going to buy it. We told him though about our considerations for the Tiffany ribbon so he was well aware of competition. It was an amazing find and he was willing to give the E/VS1 diamond to us for $3000 from the $3800 original (minus the band). We originally were thinking of buy HoF diamond but after lots of research I found that I can get a non HoF at better grades for the same price and look. So I asked the jeweler to find one since they didn't have any in the store. That weekend we went to the Tiffany store to look at the ribbon and I fell in love with it! It was within our budget and I love the design. Although there has been alot of replicates that are probably cheaper, I would rather buy one that I have already seen and know that it is to the detail that I want (I looked at replicates of the ribbon but to me they were as pretty or there was just something about it that didn't quite make my heart beat as fast). So we returned to the local jeweler since he was so nice and we had told him we would give him a chance after looking at Tiffanys. And he did a very good job at making us think twice with that E/VS1 diamond. The only problem would be that I couldn't find a band I liked. I've searched EVERY brand/designer/designs on the internet for a band that I liked but couldn't find anything until I had saw the HoF band he had brought in that day.

The band retails for $2800 but we were going to custom make it for my finger if we were going to buy it from him. The issue I had with the HoF ring in the end was that even though it was very pretty it was very overwhelming for my finger if I thought about it as a ring I would wear daily. My fingers are quite small so when I put the HoF ring on it only showed 2 of the side diamonds on each side of the band even with the .5ct diamond as its center. So there was no reason for me to really have the extra diamonds around it since it wasn't a continuous diamond studded band. His custom design jeweler said he can replicate the ring with less diamonds and to fit the .5ct center. He also assured me that he was a perfectionist, so it really made us think. So at the end of the day... my boyfriend decided he loved the Tiffany band more (at this point I didn't really care because either one would have been perfect). It came down to the decision of the prong setting lol. He loved the suspended feeling of the Tiffany ring rather than the traditional prong setting. I am not sure if I'll ever want an upgrade haha.. the ribbon that we do end up with will hold too many memories for me to want to replace it. We had lots of fun shopping for this ring together! And I was the one opposed to shopping with him for it (hah.. I wanted to be surprised... but in the end... I'm glad we got to do it together and found a ring that we both love!)

Side note: I did learn a couple things from all this... (I didn't know ANYTHING about diamonds before this.. I just thought they all sparkle and were the same). All the jewelers we spoke with... were surprised that I refused anything above a .75ct. Tried to convince me that 1ct+ would be awesome. After explaining to them that I would hate anything that large... they were all shocked. I also learned that most jewelers also use cut as a selling point... but don't carry AGS ideals in the store =P (or at least have very few). And every band I have encountered were either too clunky.. too high... for my finger and majority of display rings are for 1ct. So I never really got to see how a ring with a .5ct would look like until Tiffanys (I only saw how the .5ct loose diamond looked like by itself). So all in all.. I believe the engagement jewelry industry... hates small people jk jk

If you read through that sorry! hah but I hope you enjoyed it.
