Default 50 year old platinum bangle! nice story
Just wanted to share as i'm so happy today, my Nan is visiting me for a few days and today she gave me a bangle. When she and my grandad were first married he came across a piece of industrial platinum where he worked as an engineer. Grandad was always making things and decided to make 2 bangles from it for my Nan, he made one slim ish one and a very wide one.
he welded them and patterned them and then gave them to his friend to polish them, the wide one never came back to him and his friend said it had vanished.
many years later my nan was looking at the holiday snaps of these frinds and noticed his wife was wearing the bangle in one of the pics she still to this day hasn't mentioned it to her.
My grandad died when i was 16 and 13 years on i'm still missing him so i was so pleased that nan gave me this, i don't think i will ever take it off!
sorry its a bit long

Enjoy wearing it...

as for the other bangle: That sucks, I hate that someone would steal like that and I can't blame her for never mentioning it.

Ah, that's sad but also the little lady may have never known where it came from he may have just said he made it for her. None the wiser..

What a beautiful story (except the wide bangle part). I'm glad you have something that links your grandfather, your grandmother and yourself.

More than likely... I doubt he would ever tell her where it came from. He has probably lived with his shame for many many years

I agree. I would have made that man feel extra guilty now that her husband is no longer living.

I would think that having a bracelet for so long that was similar to a bracelet your friend has would have sparked a conversation about it if the woman truly didn't know where it came from.
