Is anyone familiar with Thai 23kt gold? Any thoughts? Is 5 baht a good size? I like the look and am thinking about getting a mans chain. Thank you

I'm pretty good on the 22kt jewelry but if you have a picture that would help more.

I found a store that sells 'baht' gold 1 baht is 15.16 grams. I was thinking of a 5 baht which is 75 grams (2.4) oz. of gold. Baht gold is 96.5 pure. The price was 2,380 which seems reasonable considering the gold content at 890/oz. If I get it this week I will post pictures.

Just wondering if "baht" is really a universal unit (if you would call that) for gold's weight?
I never thought it was universal until now?? I thought I was used only in Thailand...maybe I'm just missing out...haha :) |

I never thought it was universal until now?? I thought I was used only in Thailand...maybe I'm just missing out...haha :)[/q Gold is measured in grams usually, "baht" is an asian unit of measure 15 grams apx used by asian jewelers who deal in 24kt gold. I never knew of "baht" until I decided on a 24kt chain. After comparing asian gold to 10kt 14kt or even 18kt there was no question in my mind which was more brilliant. My 14kt and 18kt stuff looks lackluster in comparison. Im glad there was a local asian jeweler close to me, my next purchase may be a gold pendant to add to the chain. The jeweler told me these chains are used as money in the asian culture, many are sold back to the jeweler as money is needed in emergency. They buy them back at a slight discount whenever you ned to get fast cash, being almost pure gold you know what the value of your gold is everyday. Many people get taken advantage of when selling 14 kt 58.5% gold as gold buyers can confuse sellers to get a lower price than the true market value |

Can someone help me? I purchased this 1 Baht chain and pendant long ago. I was told by someone (not expert in Asian languages) that the pendant was the Chinese symbol for fortune, but is it? Can anyone tell from the poorly lit (apologies for the glare) image if that is so and, if not, what it might be? Click on image for larger view.
