I've decided on a classic 6 prong Tiffany knife-edge setting for my loose stone, but now I'm having second thoughts. I would love to hear thoughts on what people have here and why you like 4 or 6 prongs.

i prefer the simplicity of a 4 prong, but if you are going with tiffany...i love the classic knife edged solitaire with 6 prongs.

I am assuming we're talking about a round stone?
Also, what carat weight? |

I would choose the 6 prong for a smaller stone and the 4 prong for a larger stone

I thought Tiffany's doesn't sell just the setting?? You have to buy the diamond with them?? Anyhoo, I chose 6 prongs. Feels very secure!!

I am biased in favor of 6 prongs for Rounds, and 4 prongs for cushions, princesses, emerald cut and asschers. I think 6 prongs is not only more secure, it keeps the round shape prominent.

I prefer 6 prongs cause the diamond seem a little bigger and very round. It's not the case with 4 prongs.

I feel 4 prongs make the diamond look slightly squarish, while 6 prongs keeps its round shape.

6 prongs looked weird on me, so i went with 4. but 6 does feel alot more secure though.

I like the clean look of a 4 prong.

I've had both, I prefer the six prong setting for most of the reasons stated above- It is more secure, dia looks rounder, and bigger, and I think it is just a beautiful, clean look- apparently Tiffany did too! But , try before you buy, go in to a store and try the different rings on, maybe one will look better on you than the other.

I banished all prongs from my important jewelry and am now sporting bezel set stones. Much more secure for me, since I lost my first diamond with a 4-pronger.....
