I recently just started graduate school in the city, and as of right now flats are fine. I have flat boots I wear as well from time to time. I know when the weather gets colder I can wear them as well. However, when its really cold out, are all you wear tall boots? I would normally wear heeled boots under/over pants , but heels, school, city, not particularly what I want to do on a daily basis. Do I have any other options to wear aside from tall flat boots? What flat shoes do you wear in the winter?? will I have to succumb to not so cute shoes? lol. Any and all ideas appreciated (even if they are not the cutest shoes in the world). Thanks!

^^ your question isnt dumb at all...i love flats so even in winter I still wear flats quite often..i guess it really depends where you live..I live in Sydney, winter here isnt as cold as some other places and ofcos it doesnt snow so flats are totally fine..on the cold days I wear Ugg boots..they dont exactly look sleek or anything but they're extremely comfy and in personally think they're quite cute..:)

No, definitely not a stupid question. I am in the USA, the northeast, and it gets rather cold during the winters (snow and all that). I've been struggling with what to wear this season, but I have some idea. Uggs on cold days (I have waterproof ones and wellies, not just the classics), black leather ankle boots, and tall Frye harness and campus boots. I find it's a mistake to wear flats as snow and slush always gets into them and then I have cold wet feet.

IDK how much this would help you, but I know it proves to be a miracle for me - try Band Aid's Friction Block when you wear your heels/boots. Even if you don't experience a lot of friction, it still helps nicely. I've found that I can walk around a lot longer in heels.
I always carry around a pair of flats whenever I wear boots/heels, just in case something happens. |

Depending on the weather conditions I guess...
If there is a sheet of ice I am working with, a pair of tall leather flat boots where my rubber/metal ice cleats can go on is the best. Deep snow w/o ice, I can still content with heels where I can dig my heels down for additional support. Tall boots preferred of course. |

If it's really cold and/or snowy, I wear uggs. If it's just cold, or rainy and cold, I wear my Doc Marten's. Those tend to be my staple winter shoes and I've accumulated a lot of them over the years in floral prints, plaids, velvet, bright colors, etc. Winter is boring enough without having to deal with boring shoes.
