Default what can i do for my MJ mouse flats? :(
Hi everyone!

i have a pair of MJ mouse flats. They are new but i just noticed that the metallic 'nose' has rubbed off a bit and there is a little gold mark right on the top of the right shoe. It is a little obvious as you can see where the metallic shine has gone off ( right on the top) Im wondering if there is a DIY i can do? Like maybe paint over it??

I've attached pictures. I hope someone can help me out :)

the little gold mark

you can see the balding of the metallic nose on the top

i hope im making sense.

First, do you have a suede brush and/or suede cleaner? That's what I would do first.

If that didn't help, then there is gold shoe polish (though obviously shoe polish isn't meant for suede) -- but maybe that would be a safer thing to try rather than paint.

Paint seems like it would be too heavy looking and change the texture of the suede -- like you'd have a splotch that looked like you got paint on your shoes because of paint's gloss and thickness.

Well, I don't know if I've offered you a good solution -- but I think shoe polish is something that you can try reasonably safely.

As for not being able to match the color, find the closest polish or just try the "neutral" clear polish. Now, again, let me reiterate I've never used polish on suede, just on regular leathers -- so I don't know exactly what will happen. Test on a small inconspicuous area first!

i think something like that will happen to the suede the first time you wear them. so i'd try to just leave it alone. i wouldn't use shoe polish or paint on suede. you will ruin it.

I don't think you can restore the metallic part. From the pictures it looks like part of the suede got nicked/removed. The shoes are bound to get wear and tear from use, so I would just leave it. It could get worse if you try to put anything on it like luvtami said.

This obviously isn't the path of least resistance, but can you have a shoe repair replace both noses so they match?

I agree with Izznit - just leave the shoe alone. I have a pair of silver mouse flats with the black fabric noses... the noses are the first things that get nicked and it's unavoidable. If you spend a lot of money or effort getting this repaired, it's bound to get scratched again in the near future and you won't really get much pleasure out of wearing these if you keep worrying about damage.

I doubt anyone who sees you with these shoes on will notice the mark. Just think of it as a birthmark on your mouse's nose! With time, the gold color of the leather might get darker anyway and the mark might possibly start blending in.

Obviously a temporary/cosmetic solution, but have you thought about maybe touching them up gently with a dab of gold eyeshadow? It should at least camouflage the dark spot.
