i saw those on NAP and the model look so elegant. so i went to the store and try the exact same pair (chloe)...they looked bit hookerish on me. i don't know.

When it comes to over the knee boots I think there is a wide range from flashy to casual.
Anything that is thigh-high with heels is especially flashy (trashy if black shiny leather). I would avoid thigh-high altogether (although I have a pair from Cynthia Vincent that are amazing).
Over-the-knee is less flashy than thigh-high. Flats are less flashy than heels. Suede is less flashy than leather. I have a pair of brown suede flat over-the-knee boots that are cute with just about everything.
I disagree with a previous poster who advised against wear OTK boots over skinnies. Skinnies and OTK boots will be hot this season. I definitely agree with another poster who advised against body con dresses with OTK boots. Sure, it's sexy but it borders trashy...even on Hollywood stars.

BTW, I'm 5'4" and I have found that OTK boots with 22" shafts look best on me.

I too have been searching for the perfect pair that isn't stiletto which can be flashy especially for me since all i do is domestic work (mom of 3) I think I have found the perfect pair and believe it or not they are from Juicy

http://www.shopbop.com/peyton-above-...her-shopbysize

I think that the brown suede looks a little more Boho that the black and it seems to me that black always tends to be a little more sexier, so yes, the boots regardless are sexy because they are thigh highs, but they are a little more grounded. Oh, I love these boots........
Omg, Pugtolove, I was just coming here to post those! I was browsing through ShopBop's new arrivals and these instantly caught my eye as well. One thing I like is that they can be folded over, which gives them a bit more flexibility in terms of length. I like the wedge, too. The idea of flat boots appeals to me because as previously mentioned I want to avoid a trashy look altogether, but with my height and proportions I just don't know if I can pull it off.

Are you going to purchase these? I'm considering it...

I'm also currently eyeballing a Haute Hippie minidress on eBay. If I win it, it's going to almost necessitate some OTK boots. At least that's how I'm justifying it to myself today.

I very much want the JC boots in brown. I would really like to try them on first, just to see if I even look good in them or if they are way over the top for me. I am 5'5 as well with legs on the longer side and shorter torso(or no torso as I like to say) NO one has these boots as of yet except for ShopBop. So I might just keep waiting till they come up on the Nordstrom site. If anyone else has seen these boots somewhere...let us know!

OTK boots are a fabulous staple for fall even beyond this years trend. I agree with all of the ladies above...

I have a flat OTK boot that I wear with Vince leggings, skinny jeans or opaque tights and a tunic or dress. I recommend reading brand descriptions online for each boot as they will typically list the shaft measurement (heel to top of boot) as well as leg (which is typically measured at the top of the boot. Dolce Vita has a fantastic option for under $300 (13 in leg/18 in shaft) Jimmy Choo (14 in leg/ 21 in shaft) has a fabulous OTK boot for a lean leg $1195 and Guiseppe Zanotti has one coming with a 19 in leg/23 in shaft $975.

I am 5'10 1/2 and I ADORE the Jimmy Choo OTK boot...it can also be pushed down a touch for wearing just below the knee.

Whichever way to go, the simplier the style..the longer the wearability post 'trend-must have'... have fun!

Anyone want to share modeling/outfit pics of their OTK boots? I've never really seen anyone wearing a pair in public here, it would be nice to see the outfits people put together with them :)

So I just went shopping and tried some on...
I am 5'3 and petite (size0) so I wasn't sure how they would look. I had tried on the Zara thigh highs and they were AWFUL on me. I was looking for a pair with a shorter shaft, more OTK than thigh high.

Surprisingly, my favorite pair were thigh highs with a very long shaft and a platform-people were stopping in the store and complementing me! Even my mother liked them and she is pretty conservative. They were suede, which made a huge difference. I just need to figure out if I can wear them with jeans-I was wearing a dress today.
If you are thinking of getting them, I would recommend going to a store and trying a bunch on-the pair I thought I would like best and seemed much less over the top actually looked the worst on.

I'd go with skinny jeans and a slightly slouchy sweater. For evening, a minidress with completely opaque tights.

I'm pretty sure those are Chinese Laundry. I snagged a pair (same color and suede) last month on sale for like $91USD

Great points here. I agree. As much as I'm tempted to buy those Juicy Peytons without trying them on, I don't think I will.

I've been wondering if the thigh high might be better for me than just OTK, simply because of my height (5 foot 5) and my experiences with skirt length. I can wear miniskirts and I can wear ankle length skirts, and I can *usually* wear skirts that are clearly above the knee but not quite 'mini' - all other lengths make me look stumpy. Given my height and proportions I'm pretty sure any OTK/thigh high boots are going to need to be paired with a fairly short skirt (sweater minidress, probably), and/or will need to be heeled. For me, it's all about the leg exposure between top of boot and bottom of skirt. It needs to be there or I resemble a tree trunk. :)

I also tried on the Zara ones, i loved them! I'm 5'5'', average height, size 34-36 (sorry, don't know US sizing). Some friends said it wouldn't look good on me, because im not tall enough, but maybe my boyfriend was right and it doesnt really matter how tall you are, the important thing is how long your legs are, compared to your body.
I even took a pic but i dont publish it because i tried them on with a mini skirt and it's kind of hookerish (couldn't try them on with jeans, because Zara ones look awful on me - im between 2 sizes) I need to go back wearing skinnies so I can see how they look with them.
