My question is... if you saw someone walking down with that shoe, and you saw the red soles... would you THINK it was TRYING to be a CL-knock off?
My answer is yes, because I never saw CL make it like that.

Now I have to look up the trademark info. The last I had read the sole was trademarked on a very specific shade of red...It was just a brief mention, though.

But honestly, you like the shoes. I don't think it's a knock-off of CL style that's likely to be mistaken & if anybody asks - just be honest. As it is, 2007-08 has been a big year for decorated soles in various patterns plus a lot of companies have been adding red or other bright colors to the heels to make more contrast.

If you're live anywhere that's not a large city, odds are most folks won't really notice your shoes let alone recognize the sole detail. Out of those, even few will have seen any CL shoes & fewer than that actually have any brand recognition.

We're fans, & that makes us more self-conscious. Most other folk don't pay that much attention to shoes so I wouldn't think it's worth stressing yourself over.

You can always look up this brand in the future at Zappos & get a look at the soles if is really is important to know before you buy.
