You probably can't trademark all colors of red. I'm guessing he trademarked a particular color of red.

Now, I would never carry a knock off bag, or wear any knock offs knowingly because I don't promote it. But, if you're saying that just because the color is the same, and it's not CL, and that makes it "cheap".. I can't help to feel a bit offended. I don't have the money to spend on CLs like many fortunate people here, so I make do with what I can afford. I feel like with that comment, I should be concious of what other people think.
Not to bring up this topic again - I think there are other threads before my joining TPF on this - but...

I feel what you're saying. I can't say I know what D.A. means by that, but *I* definitely think that beautiful, comfortable shoes are beautiful, comfortable shoes - doesn't matter at what price. There are price-wise cheap shoes that make my feet blister like nothing else but there also ones that are perfectly comfortable and lovely. My only problem with red-soled shoes like Oh Deer (but not with the yours) are the idea that they are *not* focused on creating beauty and comfort, why I love CLs anyway, but on branding their shoes to be like others.

So long story short, I don't think you should be self-conscious!

purly, he trademarked the "red sole." It doesn't matter what shade of red it is, as long as it's red. I'm going to try to find an article on it so you guys can read it.

these are all from a year ago:

It's possible they haven't been trademarked yet. But he is at least in the process of doing it.

I just did a search on the US trademark website and he has three current trademarks, all LIVE, for different displays of his name "Christian Louboutin" in different fonts. I see none for use of red soles on shoes.

I say wear the shoes! Less than .1 percent of people will even think of CLs but if they do the shoe looks different enough that it won't matter. Enjoy them!

I think maybe, a lot of people also think the new Versace shoes are trying to be CL's with their red soles

I think that if people are getting that close to the soles of your shoes you have bigger problems.

LOL! You are so right! It's not there's the freaking shoe running around checking soles!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! This is part of the reason why I this forum!!!
