Default Over-the-knee boots for girls like me with thick calves?
Hi tpfers!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE boots. Sad thing is, I have thick muscular calves that oftentimes cannot fit into the boots I adore. It sucks really bad to always have to buy booties.

Anywho, I am madly in love with these boots by Chinese Laundry called the "Turbo." I bet many of you even own them, they come in suede and leather.

http://www.chineselaundry.com/indSho...30939960853593

This style boot is often seen on Li-lo and Vanessa Hudgens.

(Celebs love the Joie "Dream" boot specifically.)

Anyway, I am dyyyyyying for a pair of tall over the knee boots like this!

In suede or leather at this point!

Does anyone know of any boots like this style made with wide calf circumferences? Or even a certain brand that runs big??

Sometimes I can fit certain brands, but they always fit too dang snug for me to even tuck skinnies into. And then what's the point?

I will be forever grateful tpfers if you please find me something like this!

I am looking for a tape measure now as I am curious what my actual calf circ. is.

I am about to give up hope of ever owning a pair of cute boots! Oh how I lust for those over the knee boots..

They're not exactly what you're looking for, but what about these:

I have those Chinese Laundry boots! The calf runs quite big. I have rather large calves and am able to fit even bootcut jeans into them (I just fold them over.) Do measure your calves and we'll have a better idea how to advise you!

Perhaps you can look into zip up boots. They are a little easier to get on and off, and a lot better for tucking jeans into.

JCrew has extended calf boots, but I haven't seen any over the knee boots from them yet.

I actually have a pair of tie up boots that fall some inches below my knee that do this well...They are black suede-ish material and have beige fur peeking out from the ties, but not in a cheesy way. They are great, but not quite the look I am going for.

I have yet to find a pair of tie up boots that go above the knee, without fur, and are to my liking. I'm always open to finding a pair though.

Maybe I'm strange but tie-up boots present a whole other "look" to me than what I'm searching for, atleast the ones I've seen. Lol- they are either winter comfy w/ fur or black with a huge chunky heel and a LOT of tie length i.e. Hot Topic goth.

Heehee, I knew someone would mention fairly quickly they have them!

I heard from others the calf is quite tight when it comes to jeans, fine with tights. And I really want to put my one and only pair of skinny jeans to good use - I bought them and have not worn them yet as the only way I can pull them off is with boots! I guess everyone is different, someone may feel they have large calves while the next person thinks their calves of the same size are small.

The best way to go about it is to measure- sadly, I never located the measuring tape and I have no string where I am currently. lol.

I have looked into J.Crew - they only have a few styles and sadly for me none of them appealed to me much.

Thanks for all your suggestions tho! And you too nanette!

I tpfers' helpfulness!

laureenthemean~

omg omg OMG

I LOVE them!

I saw the 2nd pair with that look of half leather in front half stretchy material in back boots on a celebrity on some magazine (maybe Lohan?) and I thought they were so cool! I love how the leather fronts stick up higher in front!
Even though they aren't wide calves, those would be a pretty good bet of fitting b/c of all that stretch!

The 3rd pair in the cognac color are DIVINE. (dies.) Exactly what I was looking for! The perfect dark reddish brown! Sadly for me, that color is unavailable in my size. I also see at one point they had them in suede, too cute.

The first pair is pretty cute too, just not sure how I feel about the color yet. Not sure if they are too light for me. hmm..

I have some thinking to do. Not sure which pair to choose. If I had the dough I'd try 'em all on for size lol!

You are a godsend Laureen!
Thank you for finding these for me!!

I ended up choosing the 3rd pair only in black leather as they were out of cognac in my size!

They are super soft and amazinnnng.

I actually wore them out yesterday with scalloped gray tights and a black shirtdress... sooo cute!

I can get them on with my skinny jeans, buut it's a tight fit and not quite as loose as I'd like. But then again, maybe after I wear them a while they will stretch some more.

They are definately a keeper tho (hence my wearing them out) and look great with tights and thin leggings [for me]!

On another note, I think I may have found a slouchy faux suede boot that is finally big enough to compensate jeans. But, they are not over the knee. I am contemplating between those, and the 2nd pair you showed me that's half leather half elastic. I like the look of those better as they are high, buut I am nervous about taking the gamble that they will not fit jeans. It would all depend on just how stretchy they are.

Thanks for finding those for me Laureen! I had always heard about Zappos, but it was one of those sites I always forgot to go exploring. It's actually a pretty great site, with lightening fast shipping, too.

What about denim leggings? I've wanted to try the ones on target.com, once I can find some high-heeled boots I like and fit into:

Thanks for the post, I too am looking for boots. Must everything in the world be tiny!
But designers don't cater to some of us who are no longer a size 8 in life (ah my youth).
(no offense to size 8s!!! I was one, circa 10 yrs ago)
I love those boots you posted, wish they had some height, I have trouble in flats. Still considering them though!

Hey there! I have the same "calf issues" (I blame it on my NYC days of endless walking) Keep in mind that a good cobbler can stretch the shaft of an OTK or knee boot for you & you could easily get an extra 2-3 inches. sounds as if your new pair fit perfectly though CONGRATS!!! I'm bummed I can't see pics in the office! :(

I found the best BOOTS!!!
I am so happy. They fit, they're gorgeous, and did I mention they fit?
They're made by Diba and they're the Deanne style. Flipped up or flipped down, they're AWESOME!!!
Thought I'd pass it along! Got mine in black. So cute.
