I don't think the blanc expert line actually whitened my complexion (something that many western women fear... cuz they prefer the tanned look...), but rather made the brown spots fade ~50% (and probably preventing new ones from forming). I'm also taking some medication that makes my skin sensitive to the sun, so that's why I always wear SPF and choose whitening products.
Generally, serums cannot be used as a moisturizer. However, if you have really oily skin, like me, and if it's in the summer time, you may be able to get away with just a serum that targets hydration like La Prairie's. Yet, most serums are more 'high-tech' (target wrinkles, spots, inflammation, redness, promote healing...etc) so they're not just for the sole purpose of hydration. Then again, even if you do use just a serum as a moisturizer... it's probably not a good idea to be using it several times a day because they're mainly supposed to be used at night (so not under makeup during the day) unless specified, AND it would be very expensive this way too since most serums are only 30-50mls.
I like La Prairie's Cellular Eye Contour and it's the best that I've used. For me, I have absolutely no puffiness around my eyes now (remember, I sleep 5 hours a day...) which is amazing imo, however I do still see some blueishness around the inner corner of my eyes. It is still much better than 2 years ago though. You may want to give this eyecream a try, or ask an SA to recommend one that's suitable for you. Good luck!
Is that the blue gel one? or the Pink one? Thanks!

Thanks CEC. - this is great info! I am convinced... I will definitely try La Prairie's Eye Contour and Lancome's Blanc Expert line. You seem more knowledgeable in these products than the SAs behind the counter. (everytime I talk to them it makes me wonder if they're even using the products they're selling! )

CEC - i've been really curious about the lancome blanc expert line so i'm glad to hear its really been working for you! especially with acne prone skin, since i read somewhere a long time ago that whitening products might cause breakouts. but i haven't seen that in awhile so maybe my fears were unfounded...:)

OH...I use Tanning lotions that are only sold at tanning salons. They have super delicious moisturizing ingredients (because anybody that goes tanning, along with the other damages, also faces dry skin...so using the lotion helps combat that dryness and keeps skin supple...some of them even have spf 15 in them ) and many of them have bronzers. It depends on the type of glow you want and how intense. If you want something very light and natural looking, I'd get Designer Skin Tinted Love moisturizer...it's a higher end version of the Jergens lotion you can get at the drugstore....cost comparison is relatively close - I paid 22 dollars for a 20 oz bottle. It smells great and doesn't have any of the yucky stuff in it that some drugstore brands do...like mineral oil. A lot of the salon brands only use natural moisturizers like aloe, hemp seed oil, etc.

I'd suggest getting the lotions for use in the tanning bed, but they are a lot more expensive...the upper level running around 50 dollars a bottle and the utmost best running at about 100 dollars a bottle.

As for tips, I make sure to exfoliate a few times a week (not with a harsh exfoliant), moisturize like crazy...the lotions I described are not like streaky, scary self tanners of the past. I haven't used any that turn my skin orange, they all work with your skin tone to give you a healthy glow (the idea of bronzers in tanning lotion is to show you the results of using the tanning bed a few hours before they appear, and to deepen the results of your efforts and even out any areas that aren't getting tan. So if you aren't tanning, they will just give you a nice glow that works with your skin tone).

I know some people are leery about using body lotions on the face, but I don't put foundation or other things on my face besides a swipe of bronzing powder and I get a lot of compliments on the condition of my skin

Let me know if that answered your questions or if you were looking for something else...

really? I dunno. Most whitening products are actually intended for use on asian skin and asian people are generally more prone to acne cuz of our genes (we have relatively more androgen-resistance compared to caucasians, and therefore the body kinda goes into hyper-mode by producing even more androgens (ie the deaf Englishman... inside joke... LOL!) which is often the cause of acne)

Age: mid-30s
Skin type: Combination. Oily T-zone, dry everywhere else. Prone to breakouts.
Goal: To keep my face from looking too shiny or too dry. Sun protection.

AM routine: wash with Philosophy's "Never Let Them See You Shine" cleanser. Slather on prescription antibiotic that prevents acne. Moisturize with Oil of Olay Complete All-Day Moisture Lotion with SPF15. Apply Lancome La Base primer. Apply makeup.

PM routine: wash with Philosophy's "Purity" cleanser. Slather on prescription antibiotic that prevents acne. Apply Murad Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel on my cheeks and nose. Moisturize with Oil of Olay Age Defying Daily Renewal Cream.

I don't use toner, eye cream, serums, masks, or anything else. Although I probably should. My skin seems to be doing fine without a bunch of products, though.

Body skin care: whenever I remember to (which is rarely), I moisturize with Lubriderm.

I have aging dry/sensative skin. I use:

La Mer clensing creme or Bare Essentual's dry cleanser

La MEr toner or any toner that I have is natural

LaMer lifting serum, eye and moisture creme

LaMer foundation w/ spf

I usually only do this in the am. Dr. Harushka says not to moisturize at night because of your natural skin oils. Some times I do my routine at night but as LaMer is pricey I am happy not to use it too often!

I am an aesthetician working in Los Angeles. As you can imagine, I have used many products over the years...from drug store to high-end to RX. Here is my current regimen:

AM:

Cleanse - Epicuren citrus wash or Purpose by Johnson and Johnson or Glycolic Face wash from Image skincare.

Tone- Epicuren protein mist or Eminence Organics Wild Plum Tonique (yummy)

Eye- La mer Intense Eye Balm (love)

Treatment- Skinceuticals CE Fruelic then, La Mer Hydrating Infusion

Moisturize- Epicuren daily Emulsion

Protect- Skinceticals Ultimate Sun Defense SPF 30 or Epicuren Extreme Cream SPF 45.

PM:

Cleanse- Same as above

Tone - Same as above

Eye - Same as above

Treatment- Image Skincare Retinol or Retin-a

Moisturize- Epicuren Evening Emulsion or La Mer cream

WEEKLY- Makeup Artists Choice 65% lactic acid peel or Epicuren Hot peel or Eminence Lime Stimulating mask.

I have very dry skin. But it's not dehydrated. There is a difference. Dry skin lacks oil. Dehydrated skin lacks moisture.

I get monthly oxygen facials and twice monthly massages. It's important to move the lymph as to not build up toxins in the body. The more toxins removed the better our skin and health.
