Does Wen actually work? It seems too good to be true.

I thought it was just me. I'm lazy I guess but I just hate the whole wash, dry, straighten routine. I mean I love how it looks and feels after but to do it everyday? No way.
I can't say I have any hair secrets. My routine is very, very, simple.

To those asking about Esuchen RD, check out Cheryl's thread- http://forum.purseblog.com/the-beaut...ld-351098.html
It has changed my life! I am forever indebted to Cheryl! It is seriously the best thing I have ever used on my hair.

My hair secrets are soooo simple!!!
First off, I want to say my techniques might not work for some of you since I'm Asian, and I have naturally very thick hair.
1. Wash hair EVERY SINGLE DAY. I have very oily hair, and if I miss a day of washing, I will look like I slept in an oil bed. With that said, I NEVER use conditioner. It makes my hair oilier and makes it flat too. I take a shower at night a few hours before I go to bed that way I really get rid of all the bacteria that my body accumulated throughout the day.
2. DON'T EVER EVER EVER blow dry your hair. Please just leave it alone and let nature take control. Definitely stick to air drying your hair. It's better.
3. Right after I take a shower, when my hair is damp, I put it in a bun. I do this for two reasons: (1) I have acne-prone skin and if I sleep with my hair having contact with my face, I will most likely wake up with a massive zit. (2) If I don't tie my hair in a bun, my hair tends to go straight and flat, and I don't like super straight hair (it doesn't look good on me AT ALL). Wavy hair tends to frame my face better and makes it appear slimmer. So I wake up the next morning with natural thick waves (I don't even need to curl it anymore) and voluminous hair.

My hair usually looks like this when I wake up (and it stays that way for the whole day too):

So if you're Asian and have thick hair, give this a try and tell me how if it works out for you.

I have long curly hair and for me the combo of a rich conditioner in the shower and a micro fiber hair turban really cuts down on frizz and helps with curl definition - If Iuse a normal towel my hair takes forever to dry and is frizzy and my curls look like crap
my other secrect is finding the right hair cocktail - by that i mean which combo of products works best for the weather and for the look I am going for

I wash my hair before I go to sleep and do not blow dry it, when I wake up in the morning my hair has the most dramatic un-styled look like I love, but is soo shiny ( no product is able to do this to my hair). . .

I too only wash my hair twice a week...I have very long, thick, wavy hair so if I overwash it, it really dries it out. The best way (tho sometimes I'm too lazy to do this) to deal with long thick wavy hair is to wash it at night, blow dry it until damp (about 5 minutes on high) and then finish it in the morning...either by straightening it with an iron or adding a small amount of gel and scrunching it for a wavy look. I have found that if I pull my hair back in a ponytail and sleep in it, it makes the top of my hair really flat and not in a good way...so I just leave it loose and DH loves playing with it

Of course, when I'm not feeling very energetic at night, I wash it in the morning and then it takes FOREVER to get the washing/drying/styling done...arrrghhh!

I use MoroccanOil after I blow dry my hair - at first the oil seems thick as it goes on - but when you rub it around your hair - it soaks right up... leaving my hair extremely silky.

Love this!

I take a shower every night but wash my hair every other night only and use conditioner 2x/week. I have somewhat oily hair too but it isn't so bad that I have to wash everyday. I'm half asian and have long, thick hair. I don't perm it nor use any heating appliance to style it. I just let it air dry naturally. I used to color it but haven't done so in the past 3 yrs.

Letting it air dry. So much better for your hair. If I want it super-straight (my hair is wavy) I blow dry it straight for a couple of minutes when it's almost dry from air drying. Minimizing heat damage has done SO much for my hair!

Wash my hair everyday with conditioner.
Weekly, detox or weekly shampoo - Aveda detox shampoo or neutrogina, follow with deep conditioner - currently using Origins rich rewards, Kiehls olive.
Every other week, Coconut oil on dry hair, leave for hour or two then wash off.
So far I love this routine.
btw, I have black asian hair and my hair tend to get oily very easily.

ITA with the comments about not blow drying your hair. When people ask me what I do to take care of my hair (it's very thick, healthy & shine) I just tell them that the blow dryer is not my friend.

My hair's very wavy and just below chin length. I am currently growing it out and I wash it basically every day, sometimes I take a day off of washing. After washing & conditioning with MoroccanOil products, I towel dry my hair very gently, put a bit of MoroccanOil hydrating styling cream in it, and let it dry (this can take several hours, which is the yucky part). Once it's dry, I mess it up a bit/give it some more texture with some Jonathan Silky Dirt product.

Once a week I use a very gently clarifying shampoo (I like Terax Latte shampoo) and do a deep conditioning on it (Terax Crema works well for me). That's it.
