Yeah I was the perfect candidate and while it did sort of work on the bikini and armpit area, hair just never fully went away. It also took a loooong time to do each session and was not comfortable at all.

I gave up on it and went to get real laser hair removal. After 2 sessions - nearly all my hair from the areas I want are gone and it cost about the same price as the tria kit.

I just ordered the Tria at home laser hair removal system from QVC. Crossing my fingers it works.

Good Luck NoSnowHere,

Thanks to you bumping this thread I stumbled on to it :) I have read through all the pages and so far I haven't seen anyone with dark skin use this. I am hispanic and have all around tannish skin with very dark hair. I wonder how this will work for someone like me? What is your skin tone?

Best.beauty.investment.ever.

Seriously. I had been waxing, epilating, shaving - all of which consumed huge amounts of time. Not only that, but, I was always hit with a second round of torment with ingrown hairs. I would exfoliate my legs with the Clarisonic body attachment, slather them with a glycolic lotion or just do nothing - I would get ingrowns regardless.

Does the Tria hurt? Yes. I was using a wishy washy setting the first two times and then I decided to go big or go home. The results are dramatic. Even knowing it might not be totally permanent, I was more than happy to settle for hair that took forever to grow back. I have also had great success with my bikini area. Whatever parts I did haven't returned for four months now. My legs, which I am more tentative about doing (in the pain sense, I use the level 5,) have a very slow regrowth, but, will usually come back in 3 weeks if I stop shaving. I have hopes that eventually I will see no growth on my legs if I keep at it.

So, my ultimate opinion is that the Tria, and perhaps all types of laser hair removal, are godsends to people who are afflicted with noticable hair issues. Short of finding out one day that laser hair removal unravels your DNA upon use, I see no downsides to using it. It has changed my life in a way that no lipstick, purse or pair of shoes ever have.

I also would like to know this. I am half black/white with tan skin and very black hair. I want to get it but I don't know if I can use it. I noticed everyone on the commercial was pretty pale lol.

Same here, I got it for the bikini area but it's quite painful and time consuming so I don't really use it.

When you consider how much money and pain you go through with regular waxing treatments, laser hair removal is much better in the long run.

So I've done 2 treatments so far. I don't notice anything different as yet, not that I expect to. I'm only on level 3 but I hope I'm not wasting time by not just going for it. Thoughts?

It doesn't work. I did the 6 month treatment. It did reduce the amount of hair a little bit, not enough to keep up with it. Now that I've stopped, the hair is back to the way it was.

Don't waste your $.

Well, it's not that it doesn't work. It didn't work for you. I love my Tria. It may be time consuming and painful, depending on the setting, but, it does very much work. I think it really depends on your skintone/hair color and also the strength of the setting used, but, that doesn't negate the great value and performance you get from a $400 machine which replaces many thousands for salon treatments.

I last did my bikini line in March and still have no regrowth.

By the way, I read a tip from someone when I was searching for advice on how to best use the Tria. A few people mentioned going over the same area multiple times in one treatment. So, I usually do the overlapping zaps, but, instead of zapping once, I will zap 2-3 times and then move to the next. It naturally takes longer, but, I noticed quicker hair reduction that way.

Hmmm, odd how it can work for some and not others. I followed directions exactly, highest setting, etc...

I think what really helped was doing the same area many times back to back. I would zap the same spot 5 times before moving on. That really sped up the process. I don't know if that would work for everyone, especially people with skin that is darker than the lightest shades.

For example, I did a small area on my arm with one pass of zaps, once per week. It took 3 weeks before I noticed a reduction. Now on my leg, I zapped the same area 5 times and the hairs came out right then and there and haven't come back.

The Tria trades potency for price/privacy. So, the results are a little less powerful because really, that they direct people not to shine the laser into their eyes in the directions suggests the trust level they have with some of their customers

I purchased the tria over a year ago, used it for a while, had no results and then moved on to laser hair removal. I wasn't the perfect candidate, but I was a good one. Most of the areas I was using it on had very fair skin and dark hair but I still saw no results---nothing! I went ahead and got a few groupons at some local laser hair medspas and have been in awe at the results. It's amazing the results and how much more quickly the hair is disappearing. The pain is higher too which makes me think it works better than the tria. I HIGHLY recommend anyone considering the tria just keeps an eye on their local groupons, livingsocials etc and goes that route. Laser hair removal can cost thousands, but there are so many deals now that you can pay the same if not less than the tria for better results. I really regret not going that route sooner.

Tria was painful! I was using it at the highest intensity, but I felt like the lower setting didn't work.

i am taking laser treatment since August, yet i have completed just 2 sessions, i have seen a large difference in the look and my results are improving with every session. Its plus points are, its safe, comfortable and reliable. I feel very much younger and confident because of this treatment. So i would say laser hair removal treatment is best for those who want perfection.
