Default Investment Skin Care Products?

Hi ladies! I just had a eureka moment 20mins ago..I've been investing so much in make-up trying to hide my flaws but I realized that I should be investing more in skin care line! Ü

Okay, so I've been using Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and Clinique All About Eyes. Can any of you ladies suggest your ultimate skin care products that you always invest in? I need a good moisturizer and excellent eye cream Ü

Thanks!

LOL, I'm here!

Definitely La Mer! I consider it to be expensive, but worth every single penny. My skin has never looked so great.

Saks F&F event is coming up, which means 15% off La Mer! Definitely a good time to buy La Mer if you're interested, but it's always best to try samples first.

2nd week of October. I confirmed with my La Mer SA yesterday, and someone posted it in the Deals & Steals forum as well.

I would definitely rather invest in skincare. Look out for Natura Bisse skin care line. La Mer's creme contains mineral oil that some skin types may not be suited to use.

Also, lines such as Kanebo as a worthy investment.

Hi Mischka!

I use La Mer too but be careful if you go that route. The cream may end up being heavy on you and you could break out. They have a lotion and a gel cream as options for a lighter formulation.

Estee Lauder Idealist is a must for me as a treatment product. I used Fruition for years and switched to Idealist when they came out with it. It will help your skin to turn over cell production quicker and slough off dead cells so your complexion is always glowing. I use it under my moisturizer at night. Lauder has quite a few good skin care products but I have personally never found an eye cream from them that I liked enough to buy a second time.

For eye cream I like Lancome. I'm currently using Secret de Vie and prefer it to my La Mer Eye Concentrate.

A line that I really like that is inexpensive is DHC. They have some really great products and have a good sampling program when you order.

Your skin is dry, right?

AMORE PACIFIC. There are several of us on this board that swear by this stuff. I have used La mer, Revive, La Prairie, etc. and none work on me like AP.

Everyone's skin is different so I would get samples of everything and see which line works best for you.

Thanks everyone! So it's either La Mer, Kanebo, Natura Bisse, Amore Pacific, Lauder and Lancome. The easiest to find here would be La Mer, Lauder and Lancome. I've yet to check if we have Kanebo though

Bellagigi - I've tried Lancome AquaFusion before and it caused me to break out I swear I have the weirdest skin! What's the difference between the Lotion and the Gel Cream? I've wanted to try La Mer for so long but again, I didn't want to shell out so much only to have my face break out or burn, KWIM? I've tried asking for samples here but they always run out of it. I'm afraid I may have to resort to evilbay for my samples

I'm intrigued with Lauder's Idealist! I might have to give it a try! Is it better than La Mer, in your opinion? Or do you this in conjunction with something else? Also, what's DHC?

Do try to get samples before you shell out so much money Mischka. I tried La Mer cream around 5 years ago and it broke me out. I'm 32 now and thought I would give it another try. I like it now but in my late twenties it gave me that horrible breakout. Since we all have different skin, are different ages, live in different environments etc what works for one may be terrible for another.

Idealist is to be used along with a moisturizer. Especially one with an SPF if you wear it during the day. You can use it under La Mer. I do recommend you use something under your moisturizer that works like Idealist. I call them refiners though they may be referred to as something else. Fruition (Estee Lauder) is similar but is not as gentle on the skin. Make sure you still exfoliate for your skin type each week. But you will notice a definite difference in your skin if you start using a refiner underneath your moisturizer. I have tried to live without one but my skin always starts looking dull without it. Go by the EL counter and ask them to dram you up a sample of the Idealist. That way you can try it to make sure it doesn't irritate your skin.

I'm PM'ing you about the La Mer. I have a question.

I think Euoko is really on to something! The ingredients are safe, natural, food grade quality, and sourced from the best the world has to offer.
I purchased online at Euoko.com and they sell the products at Bergdorf Goodman's

To me, the concept of Investment Skin Care Products seems kind of like the idea of Investment Cheese, or Investment Rice, or Investment Cupcakes, Investment Toothpaste - I could go on, but I don't know if a lot of financial planners would recommend as an investment something that you are going to consume within a very short time frame.

Wine, I guess, you could say is an investment, but that is because its value will increase over time, but the only thing that will happen over time to skin care products or even the finest cheese or French baguette is that they will get mold.

To be honest, if I had all the money in the world, I would buy up the entire range from Natura Bisse - effective products and worth every single penny. I would really recommend the Glyco Peel - essentially an exfoliating product that helps stimulate collagen production and eliminates dead skin cells. Also, I love their Oxygen line - really keeps the glow.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the dermatologist-trusted Skinceuticals. Stuff I would recommend would be Phyto+ gel (pigmentation reduction gel), Hydrating B5 Gel, Renew Overnight (a night cream that exfoliates and hydrates at the same time) and their sunscreen. I'm currently using the products I mentioned above, and my skin is clear, bump free and glowy.

Hope this helps.
