Anyone tried Big Hippie Hair "Bumpits"?

Lightbulb Anyone tried Big Hippie Hair "Bumpits"?
I saw an infommercial for these the other day, they look pretty neat! They're basically plastic "self gripping leave-in volumizing hair inserts" things that you put under your hair to poof up the top! I've been reading about them but couldn't find any reviews! If anyone has them, does it really work? Are they uncomfortable? Thanks!

I actually saw this on HSN and was going to buy it until I read some reviews that the 'bumpit' would not stay in place. But I love the idea, it would make things so much easier. If you decide to get it, let me know if it works out for you.

It's a really cool idea, but I don't think it would stay on my head, because my hair is soooo slippery

Pursebuzz did a pouf tutorial where she made a little roll with her own hair and pinned it down, then smoothed the top hair over it. I keep meaning to try it, but I never have. It's sort of the same idea as the bumpit, just made of your own hair kwim?

I used to do this all the time before I cut my hair off. The trick is to tease it up some and make basically a little birds nest out of your roll of hair and then pull your hair over it. SO easy once you get the hang of it!

I've got these and they're great. Due to my big forehead I've got to keep the volume in the top half of my hair and the Bumpits are great for this. I tease the hair a little at the root then slide the piece into place, pull my hair over it and pin with 2 bobby pins and I'm done. Will post some before and after pics later today, once I've done my hair. It's 9am here in Oz at the moment and I look a mess!

Please excuse the freckles and under eye circles. I'm not a fan of cake-up.
Here's me after using the medium size Bumpit then pinning my hair back in a bun.

Thanks imashopaholic!!! Your hair looks great and it's not at all obvious! It looks like natural volume! (Some of the girls on the bumpits website look a little conehead like or too beehivey, lol, so that was a concern!) Do you find the bumpits stay in place well? Are they comfortable?

-LOL when I saw the name of the thread, I thought it had something to do with not shaving armpits and then doing some artistic braiding or somesuch wit the hair!!! During the 'hippie' era, amny women did not shave their pits.

Geez, I need more caffeine in the AM before I look at some of these threads!

I just ordered some of HSN. Can't wait to try them! I always do the poofy look with my comb and hair spray so I am hoping this will require less work and damage to my hair!

I'm wondering the same thing. If they do stay in place then I think Imma have a go at it through HSN so I can try it out.

I thought the same thing! Then I was very confused when the description said: leave-in hair piece.... a hair piece for your armpits?

(And it's evening here in Europe, so I have no excuse )

Hmmm.. interesting! My mom says she used empty toilet paper rolls (the little brown cartons) under her hair when she was young.
