yeah!!! they made him look old! but maybe it's to show his vampire age??

I thought it wasn't bad..still too early to tell..but I feel like they brought on the brother too early in the show! I never read the books though so maybe more stuff happens later on?

I enjoyed this, surprisingly! It will be good for my vampire fix now that True Blood is over and New Moon is still 2 months away.

I found it watchable. It tread ALOT of familiar ground, but I don't think it was anyone's intention to take this anywhere new.

The main girl was just ok. She not hooking me, but she doesn't annoy me. I liked the lead boy better than her. I believe the nice guy thing from him. The evil brother.. ehhhhhh. He was a bit grating. Cliche and sort of dumb with the whole villain with a charming smile thing. He wasn't working for me.

The psychic friend was sort of boring too. I was actually more interested in the lead girl's druggie brother and his unrequited love for a huge bitch, it seemed more authentic at times than the A story.. The bitch's brother, the ex-boyfriend, I think there is potential there too. He's not the jilted angry jock ex that they could have made him.

The dead parents, living with the aunt, feels too much like DAwson's Creek. At least the lead girl doesn't have a best friend who is secretly in love with her. That was a cliche I felt like they dodged, but it was a close one.

OVerall, compared to Melrose Place, this was Mad Men with a guest appearance from Dr. House and Tony Soprano. I agree with everyone else, it was 'watchable'. I'll give it a few more eps to see how it unfolds.

I actually thought it was pretty good! The background music ques were a little corny with too much of the fray/one republic, but any tv show with placebo has me waiting for more. Plus, the actor playing Jeremy is cuter than Stefan! lol.

i definitely like the main vamp, but i'm not feeling much chemistry between him and the girl. i feel it's a bit..... forced. like he's SUPPOSED to like her because she resembles his lost love, because she's the pretty one at school who doesn't try but gets what she wants. i feel like she's a red herring and soon enough he'll see the girl that he's REALLY meant to be in love with.... kwim? but i know that's not the case.

so Stefan is really the uncle of the "uncle" he's living with?? & he's a mortal? Can vamps in the series have children or are they young vamps (the book he was looking at was 18xx so I think not) so..they have/had another human sibling? hm...

I thought the acting in this was just as good as the acting in Twilight. Twilight the movie was horrible IMO.. Please don't throw stones at me lol

Anyways, despite the cheese, I did enjoy watching :)

They toned down the valley-girl talk a few minutes in.

the only reason I am watching is to get my Twilight/New Moon fix. For me, it seems very Twilightish. I will say that they revealed way too much in the pilot episode. It just all seemed to be coming to the surface so fast: His bro, the reason he came back to town, the chick whispering "vampire", her bro looking at him like you did this when they found her. I will stick around for a epi or 2.

I've read the books so I'm checking this out. I haven't finished watching the first episode yet though. I LOVED Ian in Lost I wish they kept Elena blonde though. Acting was... well, I wasn't expecting much anyway, it's the CW..

As for those who say it's similar to Twilight - this was written in the 90s, waaaay before the Twilight author even dreamt of writing Twilight. I rest my case.

Well even though the books were written prior to Twilight, they Twilighted the series some *I* think. Having said that I enjoyed most of the first episode and will definitely watch next week.

^yeah in the adaptation of it, i'm sure. there's no way they wouldn't capitalize on the success of twilight with this. hell, the fact that it's even made into a show is because of the success off twilight
