Wow, thanks for helping us so quickly, Swanky!

OK, just to refresh, here's a great post from Vegas Long Legs from the earlier thread:

"Jeff can give his money to who he wants. I'm not surprised he left her some, she got him some face time. Also think there's something seriously wrong with a guy who by 50 has 5 exwives. He seems to be all wrapped up in his image. Maybe now he's got the peace that obviously alluded him his whole life. May he finally RIP. Too bad he had to be made a fool of first. His life, his choice.

Finally we are getting another side to this story. There's too much real evidence against her 'stories' to just ignore this stuff. The court papers alone prove she not what she pretends to be. JMO I'm shocked that people would still think she great after all the evidence that is out there. Is character not important anymore?

This whole real houswives franchise is proving to be such a farce. Phonies & set ups by the producers abound. "

ITA with this!!

And a link from Dee Dale...hope everyone's OK with me pulling a few things over to keep it rollin':

"Gretchen and Jay weren't exactly in "cahoots" it was a arrangement, Bravo and Jeff were part of as well. Gretchen had dated Jeff a few years ago. When she was approached to do the show Jeff agreed to do it with her (he was the perfect "spouse" because of his financial status.) It was a career move for Gretchen, she got called out on it and continues to deny everything. She did care about Jeff but she was not "in love" with him.

I don't understand why people are bothered by these people's made up lives. It's a TV show, another form of entertainment....In each thread, these women are "exposed", more scripted drama is uncovered and people start going off on the deep end about watching phony programming, not seeing real millionaires, etc...I just never realized people took these shows so seriously.

PG you forgot the part about Jeff having 5 exwives by the time he was 50. This speaks volumns.

Its sold as 'reality' TV. Like truth in my reality, especially when impressionable people are on here believing what Bravo broadcasts to be true.

A lot of shows are sold as 'reality'. The simple truth is there is very little reality in many of them.

Hey VLL, I checked again and it's in there....totally agree that is a HUGE part of Jeff's past. Good call!

Yeah, I've been thinking of how to respond to michie's post b/c it is really thought provoking. I don't know, perhaps it's if we've now realized we've gotten gipped (sp?) or led to believe this really was real and not some dumb partially scripted setup? Kind of an end to our innocence about how these shows really are put together?

I see it now, duh! lol

Not watching much reality TV but this series. So I have very limited exposure. Most have no appeal for me. Now its even less.

Seems to be alot of people that believe these shows & what the the 'characters' proclaim to be true.

If I want to see someone acting, I'd rather see someone famous acting. Than someone like Lynn pretending to be rich. Bravo is getting a crappy actress for little money & calling it reality.

I think we are settling for so much crap on TV that some of the networks don't even have to be honest anymore, even in the advertising. There are truth in advertising laws & can't believe some of these networks don't get called on it.

My whole thinking with the HW franchise is that if you're billing it to be uber rich people then you should at least find uber rich people to film. I have watched enough reality tv to know that most of the drama is hyped and edited for content. I just get annoyed with the fact that half of these people either do not own their homes or are getting kicked out of rented homes because they cannot pay the rent. Or if you are supposedly married or engaged to these people (like in Gretchen's case)then at least that part should be real. If you're going to give these people all different lives than what they really live why is it a reality tv show? Really it's more like improv.

Then again I still watch The Hills and I know that it is completely fake.

I do believe that these people are real. But they're not wealthy individuals who have decided to be on TV. They're more like regular individuals, some just happening to have some money, who have agreed to be on a show. The situations, however, and the "friendships"----are for the cameras. They're just trying to tie all these people together for the sake of the show, IMO.

So agree with much of what you've said. The uber rich would not be on
of these shows.
I can understand someone not wanting their house to be used. Filming in a home can beat it up.
Geez was Lynn an outdoorsman (homeless) prior to this gig?

But, the show was never sold as 'the lives of uber rich' people. They just happened to be living better than some people. Of the original 5...Lauri was divorced and downsizing, Jeana was in a struggling marriage to a former baseball player, Jo was living with Slade, Vicki was an up-and-coming insurance agent, the other one (I forgot her name) was dealing with cancer scares. The show did not even focus on them spending money. It was about their day to day lives. As the series progressed, I guess the women who were interested in appearing (or Bravo) made themselves look wealthier, more well-to-do, at or above the level of the RHofOC ladies. Maybe I'm alone in thinking this, but I remember this show being billed as a real-life "Desperate Housewives", not "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous".
