I was totally loving that too! I thought it was so well written!

I think I built up the show's return too much. I was so looking forward to it and thought it was just ok.

I love this show and I find all the characters intriguing! I just discovered it about a month ago, so I just finished season 2 right before season 3 premiered!

i know, me too! that's part of what i love about the writing, just when you think you have something figured out you realize there are even more layers, or double meanings as loquita posted!

I hope they bring back some of his old girlfriends. His original mistress and the last one were great.

Like Joan only older.

no, you're completely right. i used to work with this other designer who everybody thought was really good looking (he was too much of a pretty boy, for my taste—but whatever) and it was sickening how even the female execs were drooling all over him. i couldn't believe what he got away with, but the other artist? he wasn't good looking at all and he never would have gotten away with what the other guy did—and he was there a good 5 or 6 years longer, too. so yeah, you're 100% accurate.

regardless of gender, if you're an extremely good looking person, you will get away with a lot in the work place, that's for sure.

see, his very first mistress (the artist/bohemian/beatnik chick) drove me insane!!! i couldn't stand her and her nose was huuuuggeee!!! whenever they showed her profile i was like "holy crap!" i was so relieved when they 'broke up.'

even that older woman, the wife of the comedian was hideous and it was hard to watch the two of them together. she was just so "hard," kwim?

Are seasons 1 and 2 out on DVD? I have lots of catching up to do. I first started watching this show in the middle of the first season, then I ended up moving to place with no cable (*kicking myself*). Now I am in a new place with cable, but I have missed a great deal.

TIA!

^Both seasons are on DVD and Blu-ray!

They're also available on iTunes in both regular and high definition.

We'll probably see how the Duck Phillips thing played out in a flashback soon. As I recall, in the last episode last season, Duck thought he had manuvered Don Draper out, and at a meeting with the bigwigs said that Don's contract had a non-competition clause, so Don could not go into the advertising biz. Don calmly said that he didn't have a contract, at which point Duck turned white.

I love this show ... one of the best on TV now. Of course being in advertising I'm a little biased. But it's still great.

This will never happen. Pete is a whiny little bitch who doesn't have a creative bone in his body. If he stays around it's cause he's stolen someone else's ideas.

Wow! That didn't occur to me but now it makes more sense! And then at the end, when Don's daughter asked him to retell the story of when she was born. The daughter's circumstances had to be much more happier than Don's welcome into the world.

I'm pretty sure Peggy is intended to be the female lead (although Don is definitely the main character) because Elisabeth Moss picked up an Emmy nomination for leading actress in a drama. I don't know that she necessarily gets more screen time and storylines than, say, Pete, but I do think she is supposed to be the main female character on the show.

I saw the actress, Elizabeth Moss (Peggy), in real life back in May 2009. She was on the same flight (LAX to JFK) as me. She sat in first class with her sunglasses on the entire time and didn't smile. I bumped into her as she was coming out of the restroom and I was waiting to go in (and no, I wasn't in first class).
