Hm, I can see that too. I guess I just think of her more as a part of Don's storyline and Peggy's is kind of separate from that.

I am so excited for the season to start tonight! I bought Mad Men season one last summer and never watched it until these past 2 weeks -- also season two. WHen I first watched season 1 I was thinking how simple life was back then for women. No worries, just take care of your children, husband, the house --- security. Then as the show progressed and you got to know each character I was shocked at how little womens roles were in the 50's 60's and am thankful I was still a kid back then! I am surprised women were allowed to vote, lol.
Counting down the hours till the season premiere!

I am seriously counting down the nanoseconds until 10pm EST tonight!! (I still have one more episode on DVD to watch from season 2 until then, tho).

The dialogue on this show is so amazing...a lot of it has double meanings if you pay close attention (but then again, I teach classes on media so I get paid to see that stuff).

I have to admit that while Don's an absolute pig in many senses I still have a good amount of compassion for him -- that to me is a sign of excellent writing, when you still care about what happens to a character even if they are distasteful in some regards. I admire Joan and Peggy a lot, because they are managing to move forward in some way despite the many limitations set on women in their industry/society in general. It made me so mad when they hired someone much less talented to replace Joan to read the TV scripts!

It also helps that Jon Hamm is a stunning matador.

We'll see how much compassion ya'll have for Don if he was played by me lol

LOL...I love it, that's a perfect way to describe JH!!!

I certainly wouldn't want to be Betty, either...I am so glad that she made him sweat it out, at least a little bit.

JUST ABOUT 30 MIN. TO GO!!!!

I'm so happy it started back up, it's such a great show. I got excited just during the opening credits! I was wondering whether they were going to have Don try and stay faithful after coming back home and with Betty pregnant, but I think that would alter the character and the show too much.

SUPER excited for the season premiere!
I'm pretty sure Peggy is intended to be the female lead (although Don is definitely the main character) because Elisabeth Moss picked up an Emmy nomination for leading actress in a drama. I don't know that she necessarily gets more screen time and storylines than, say, Pete, but I do think she is supposed to be the main female character on the show.

I was disappointed, but I'm sure the next episodes will get better. That was a new Bobby... I wonder why he was replaced... ?

^^^which one was bobby again? i'm embarrassed to say that i don't even know half of the characters names and i have watched this show since day one.

however, i truly hope that the one guy (the gay art director) comes out of the closet (to himself, at least). it looks like he has had feelings for men sexually, but since it's the early 60s, never followed through with it. unless of course, don ruins that for him. different time period, i guess.

i think bobby is don's son.

i don't think that don will out salvatore (the art director...can't remember if he goes by sal though). i felt that when don brought up the ad on the plane, he was saying, "we're in business together, i won't bring up your personal life." don understands keeping secrets -- i mean donald draper isn't even his real name!

To me, it's not about relating. It's about a great story, wardrobe, and set design. I didn't relate to any of the characters of Sopranos, but it was still a show I loved.

I think Peggy is one of the best characters.

Yes, we saw that Don will not 'out' Sal. Don, of all people, knows about secret lives. He has so many secrets... I don't think he judges others for their choices.
