English Translation Credit: HanCinema ======================================== Stars' Favorite Restaurants Stars don't just eat anywhere. There's something special about where they go. The places they go depend on their style, likes, and tastes. In today's Star's Life Style How Much, we'll reveal restaurants where stars go. The stylish women who go well with wine parties. What do they eat with wine? The food they're passionate about is ramen. Even ramen is elegant with wine if stars eat it? It's lovable how they hide in the corner to eat it. What do stars like to eat? Where do stars usually go to eat? Youido, where all the broadcast stations are. There is a Mexican restaurant Casa Loca, where Dong Bang Shin Ki, Jeon Ji-hyeon, Lee Hyo-lee, and Ji Seong go often. The Spanish-style signs and lighting helps to promote the feel of Mexico. Dong Bang Shin Ki comes here for fast and easy Mexican food. Their speciality is fresh well-being ingredients and a special sauce. How much is this popular menu? Seafood quesadilla, Mexican barbecue rib, and beef skewers are all 89000 won. Another star favorite is in Hak-dong station and has attracted Rain, Kim Hee-seon, Lee Mi-yeon, Lee Seung-yeon, and Kang Ho-dong. It's a Chinese fusion restaurant 'Pal Sun Saeng' that has sweet-tasting food and an antique design that is evident from the entrance. There are up to 80 different kinds of foods, and the fresh taste even captured Rain. It's hard to find a seat if you come late. How much? Four dishes good for two people is 72000 won. If you go to Hak-dong station, there is a sushi restaurant you must visit. 'Miyozen' has a modern atmosphere with black and white tones. Seo Ji-yeong visits a lot, and it is neat and uses fresh ingredients. She visited a lot while dating Ryoo Si-won. La Scala is a fancy French restaurant that came out in "White Tower". Song Seon-mi and Cha In-pyo met here. It has an European interior and a live orchestra, but how much? A meal for four is 300000 won. But for Koreans, Korean food is best. There is a place to find the best meat that Yoon Eun-hye of "Coffee Prince" and wrestlers from "Like A Virgin" enjoy. Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo also go here. It's 'Mr. Park's'. As soon as you go in, you are greeted with signatures of Korean stars, and even Japanese tourists visit. How much for two servings of savory meat that melt in your mouth? 106000 won. There are also restaurants that Hollywood stars go to. Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Milla Jovovich, and Paris Hilton all go to Koi Restaurant. It's neat with its monotone design and fancy atmosphere. The restaurant in New York has good food and good presentation. The food is too pretty to eat. There is a place like that in Korea. A restaurant worthy of serving Hollywood stars. 'Shoominghwa' is a Japanese restaurant where Jo Seung-woo and Jeong Ryeo-won were seen together. It is a place where many hot stars go for its modern, sleek interior. Hwang Sin-hye, Lee Young-ae, and Kim Min-sun are frequent visitors. They go for its apple dessert. It's made using a sugar frame and carved apples. You can also taste traditional sushi. This place is famous for dates, so how much for lunch? Sushi, rolls, and the apple dessert is 122000 won. Where do stars have dates? Kim Jeong-eun and Lee Seo-jin who admitted their relationship are seen on dates often. Their first date was at 'Pino', a romantic wine bar that suits them well. On Valentine's Day, Lee Seo-jin listened to live music as he confessed his love for her. The casual brunch restaurant 'Kate's Kitchen' seems like you're in the forest with its antique furniture and sensible interior. The cream sauce pasta is famous, and Lee Jeong-jae and Kim Min-hee came often when they were dating. The pasta they enjoyed is 50000 won. The neat, modern coffee and cake shop, Aroo bakery, has pretty cookies and cakes. Kang Hye-jeong and Jo Seung-woo came here a lot. Wouldn't you be happy after eating some sweet cookies and cake? Sometimes, stars manage their own restaurants. Tak Jae-hoon's 'Nabi Goong (Butterfly Palace)' and Kim Jong-min's restaurant 'Uhlee Buhlee' are as famous as their owners. Shin-ji and Lee Seong-jin also set up a meat restaurant 'Shin Sung'. ======================================== |

English Translation Credit: HanCinema ======================================== Where are all the actresses? There is an untimely shortage of actresses. This year, the big successes have been movies about males, including "The Devil's Game", "The Chaser", and "Fate". Also, most upcoming movies, such as "The Guard Post", "Eye for Eye, Tooth for Tooth", "The Good, The Bad, The Weird", and "Shin gi Jun", do not have many actresses. In the beginning of the year, "Forever the Moment" reached 4 million viewers and there was some expectation for female-centered romance movies, but with the failures of "Hellcats", "Miss Gold Digger", and "The Longest 24 Months", those hopes disappeared. "Girls Scout", starring Kim Seon-ah and Nah Moon-hee, was set to premiere in April but the date has been postponed. Maybe for this reason, most top movie actresses are turning their eyes to television. Moon Geun-yeong is preparing for a comeback with the drama "The Garden of Wind", and Kim Ha-neul and Song Yoon-ah, who had been mostly working in movies, are meeting viewers to SBS drama "On Air". It has been said that Song Hye-kyo and Kim Tae-hee are also looking into starring in dramas, and it is expected that male movies will continue to be popular. ======================================== |

English Translation Credit: HanCinema ======================================== [Secrets Revealed] Does Lee Young-ae really live in 'Xi'? ![]() How are names in the drama "The First Wife Club" made up? Is the place in "The Chaser" really that place? How much money do Wonder Girls earn? We satisfy your curiosity. [Secrets Revealed] is a corner that tells you what, how, and why, everything you need to know about stars. Since the launching of GS 'Xi' apartments in 2002, Lee Young-ae has been working as their model. Does Lee Young-ae really live in Xi? How about Lee Mi-yeon, who has been modeling Weve apartments for 7 years, and Bae Yong-joon, who modeled Honorsville apartments since 2004. Although there's no need or obligation for a model to use the product they're advertising, it is normal to believe that someone lives in an apartment if they model it for seven years. However, Lee Young-ae currently lives in apartments built by Hyun-dae. Kim Nam-joo, who was the model for Prugio apartments from 2003 to January 2008, lives in a house with her husband Kim Seung-woo and two children. Hillstate model Ko So-young lives in a house in Seoul. Bae Yong-joon and Lee Mi-yeon also live in private homes. Jang Dong-gun, who models for The Sharp, lives in a Seoul villa. Queendom's Ko Hyeon-jeong and Lotte Castle's Jang Jin-yeong live in villas. Why do they choose to live in private homes? One representative says, "It's for privacy and security". They also choose Seoul Kang-nam because "the neighbors and residents don't pay attention to them as much as in other places". ======================================== |

Source: Javabeans Moon Geun Young returns to dramas; the sageuk revival continues April 3rd, 2008 // by javabeans ![]() ![]() It looks like we’ve got a lot of upcoming dramas garnering some buzz from the high profiles of the actors and producers attached. (There’s Daemool with Go Hyun Jung, Kwon Sang Woo; Rivals with Chae Rim; Beethoven Virus with Kim Myung Min, Lee Jia and PD Lee Jae Kyu; Iljimae with Lee Junki; Iljimae with Lee Seung Gi; Choi Kang Chil Woo starring Eric; Boys Before Flowers by sheer virtue of its Hana Yori Dango connection; and so on.) Add one more to the list: The Painter of Wind [바람의 화원], starring Korea’s Little Sister Moon Geun Young — taking her first role since entering university — and veteran actor Park Shin Yang. Based on a bestselling book of the same name by writer Lee Jung Myung, the series is based in the late Joseon era and will be directed by Jang Tae Yoo (War of Money, Bad Housewife), airing on SBS as a Wednesday-Thursday drama. Originally planned to premiere in early September, it has a high chance of airing instead in October. ![]() The story centers around two talented artists and their lives, artistic rivalries, and loves (Moon Geun Young’s character dresses as a man, while Park Shin Yang’s a senior artist and something of a mentor); the plot thickens with a mysterious murder. I know you’re gonna say it, so I’ll say it first: Moon Geun Young paired with Park Shin Yang?? Nothing against the guy — he’s a fine actor — but lordy that’s a squicky age difference (she was born in 1987, he was born in 1968). I know, I know, there have been other big age gaps that don’t bother me; for instance, Seo Ji Hye (23) with Ahn Jae Wook (36) in the upcoming I Love You. Or, Ara (18) versus either Yoon Kye Sang or Jin Yi Han (both 29) in the currently airing Who Are You? But while Yoon Kye Sang and Jin Yi Han both have youthful and trendy images, Park Shin Yang has always been an ajumma-magnet. Via Herald Biz ======================================== |

(source: KBS Global 2008-04-04) Rain to Begin International PR Tour for 'Speed Racer' Actor and singer Rain will begin a world tour for the promotion of the simultaneous international release of Hollywood's "Speed Racer" on May 8th. According to Warner Brothers Korea, Rain starts his promotional tour in Korea on the 20th, then Hong Kong on the 23rd and onto Los Angeles, California, where he will join producer Joel Silver, actors Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox for the premiere. Rain is also scheduled for a Japan appearance in June. "Hollywood actors are promoting the movie on various talk shows [in the United States] but in Asia, no one is as popular as Rain so we are expecting a great response from his promotions of the film here," announced a representative of Warner Brothers. At 300 million dollars (USD) for its production and 80 million in marketing costs, "Speed Racer" is a hefty blockbuster about the best racers around the world battling in cars equipped with cutting-edge technology. Last Tuesday, Variety Magazine printed that "Speed Racer" was chosen as the closing film for the 7th Tribeca Film Festival in New York City (4/23-5/4). ======================================== |

(source: Korea Times 04-04-2008 18:15) Homegrown ‘Maple Story’ Popular Worldwide By Cho Jin-seo Staff Reporter ![]() A children's online computer game is continuing to entertain a global audience five years after its launch, thanks to its entertaining storyline and clever marketing strategy. Online game publisher Nexon said that it signed contracts Thursday to provide its "Maple Story'' game in Vietnam and Brazil, which will become the 59th and 60th country's to have the online game. The game now boasts 83 million players worldwide, including 18 million in South Korea. Its Web site has introductions written in 10 languages. "Maple Story'' is an outdated game in terms of technology ― it does not have fancy 3-D graphics, nor have elaborate music and sound effects. The game's 2-D characters move around on a horizontal plane, just like in the 1980s hit game "Super Mario Bros,'' and defeat monsters they encounter on the one-way journey. Nexon says such easy, intuitive control and storyline is one of its main virtues. "We believe that its simple user interface and cute graphics will bring good results in Brazil and Vietnam, too,'' said Ryu In-seon, the leader of the global service team. Another reason for the continuing success is its likeable characters and solid storytelling. Producing comic books and a TV animation with the same characters is helping the game's sales a lot, too. "The popularity of `Maple Story' comics and animation is enriching the game's characters,'' said Lee Dong-joo, a public relations officer. The game has been considered a model case of the so-called one-source, multi-use project. Back in 2005, Nexon published a comic book that featured the game's characters. The move was a huge success. The comic celebrated its 26th edition in March, and total sales of the series reached seven million, making it one of the most popular Korean comic books. Nexon recognized the game has further potential. Now more than 700 character products have been developed. It introduced "Maple Story'' card games in the United States and Canada last year. This week, SBS began to broadcast the "Maple Story'' cartoon in Korea, twice a week. Produced by Japan's Mad House studio, it is already a hit in Japan where it has been aired by TV Tokyo from last October to March. Nexon is considering selling the film to other countries where the online game version is available. Though children are its main audience, some adults are more engaged in the game than kids. According to the company, the highest-level player of "Maple Story'' is a man in his 40s who owns a pizza delivery shop in Gwangju. indizio@koreatimes.co.kr ======================================== |

Source: Javabeans Jo Hyun Jae, bracing self for public outcry April 4th, 2008 // by javabeans ![]() [image=mydaily] Hmm. Looks like Jo Hyun Jae is in some hot water. The actor recently starred in the film GP506 (which the above pic is from; it’s not a real army pic) and currently stars in the new drama Three Dads, One Mom (for which I’m holding off judgment till I see the second episode — I wasn’t wowed by the first, but first episodes are so unpredictable). He recently began his military service on the 1st, but has now just been released from training after only four days. That in itself is not terribly strange:
![]() [image=mydaily] The situation is starting to stir up lots of suspicion and criticism — if he suffers from a severe enough condition to prevent him from training, how can he be fit enough to film a drama? — which is not helped by the fact that the drama producers have offered “no explanation, and have evaded questions” about the topic. Furthermore, prior to Jo’s enlistment, the producers had been unusually hush-hush about his impending service date. Some of Jo Hyun Jae’s fans are supporting their star, casting aspersions on the validity of the news reports, but a majority of them agree that things look suspicious. The mandatory-military-service topic is always a source of major debate, and a definite hot-button issue. Everyone knows that effing around with draft-dodging schemes in Korea is serious, career-damaging (if not career-ending) business. Methinks he’s got some ’splainin’ to do Via News.Mk.co.kr, Daily Surprise ======================================== |

There's this 1 song in the FULL HOUSE movie I REALLY like but can't seem to find it. It wasn't played at all throughout the movie..it was just 1 of the songs they played on the menu title on disk 5.
I'm going crazy looking for it! YesAsia.com says they're no longer producing the album soundtrack. :( |

^try asking the folks at crunchyroll.com. some are die hard FULL HOUSE fans there. I bet they can give you the title :)
Has anyone seen Que Sera Sera? I just finished watching it last night. I kept putting it off since the first 3 episodes were so dragging but I was suprised at how good it was. |
