lol, poppincourt! i'm such a k-drama freak, it's not even funny. i even collect dvd sets of my favorites (not the bootlegged versions on ebay).
i watched the first couple eps of "Tree of Heaven", but never finished because i got hooked on other dramas that were airing around the same time, or after. never watched "Sad Love Song," since the storyline didn't catch my interest. i liked "Hotelier" and all the other dramas you mentioned are quite popular, especially amongst overseas fans. i also watch a lot of variety shows like X-Man, Star Golden Bell, Ya Shim Man Man, Love Letter, Happy Sunday Heroine 6, and Happy Together Friends. i love watching celebs on these shows, because you get to see a different side to them instead of only the characters they portray. i usually prefer romantic comedies and historical dramas... got bored of sappy love stories, since the storylines are pretty similar (memory loss, fatal illness, unrequited love, etc). Some dramas from 2006 that I would recommend (so far): - My Girl [Lee Da Hae, Lee Dong Wook, Lee Joon Ki, Park Shi Yeon] - Palace [Joo Ji Hoon, Yoon Eun Hye, Kim Jung Hoon, Song Ji Hyo] - Bad Family [Kim Myung Min, Nam Sang Mi, Park Jin Woo, Hyun Young] - Alone in Love [Gam Woo Sung, Son Ye Jin, Gong Hyung Jin, Lee Hana] - Mr. Goodbye [Ahn Jae Wook, Lee Bo Young, Oh Yoon Ah] - Rude Women [Yoo Ho Jung, Im Ji Eun, Jung Woong In, Lee Ki Woo ] - Seo Dong Yo [Jo Hyun Jae, Lee Bo Young, Ryu Jin] - Ju Mong [Song Il Gook, Han Hye Jin] I'm currently watching newer dramas, that have not finished airing just yet. "Fantasy Couple" (starring Oh Ji-Ho & Han Ye Seul), is from the same writers as "Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang" and "My Girl." Has the same feel... only 2 eps have aired so far, but it's promising. I'm also watching "What's up Fox?" (Go Hyun Jung, Chun Chung Myung), "Hwang Jin Yi" (Ha Ji Won), "Invincible Parachute Agent" (Eric, Han Ji Min), and "Cloud Stairway" (Shin Dong Woo, Han Ji Hye)... and I'm anticipating new, upcoming dramas too! And for "Kim Sam Soon" fans... this year, Daniel Henney appeared in "Spring Waltz," Jung Ryeo Won starred in "Which Star are you From?" and Hyun Bin will appear in an upcoming drama, "Snow Queen" that'll air next month. i think Kim Sun Ah did a movie recently, but I don't remember the title... I'm behind on films, lately. |

i don't really watch korean drama but i did enjoy Full House and Jewel in the Palace. i bought those VCDs dubbed in Cantonese, it helped so much coz for Jewel in the Palace, the story was complicated and i really wanted to know the rules and regulations back then.

I used to watch sooo many back in the day. I'm korean-american and I watch them without subtitles and understand around 80% maybe hehe. I haven't recently though. Last one I saw was "Goong," which was so cute! I didn't like "Winter Sonata" as much as "Autumn Fairy Tale" (sorry, direct translation). Hotter actors hehe. And Daniel Henney is SMOKING. One of the hottest men alive, in my opinion.

oh gosh. I also was a drama freak a few years back. I'm also Korean, so I usually watch without subtitles. I haven't watched for a WHILE so I'm not too familiar with the newer shows. Some of my FAVORITES are pretty old- Star in My Heart with Ahn Jae Wook and Cha In Pyo (probably 8+ years ago); Goodbye My Love with Ahn Jae Wook and Kim Hee Sun; All About Eve with Jang Dong Gun and Chae Rim; the list goes on...

I always tried to stay away because everyone has told me it's addicting..and it is!! I was changing the channel one day and started watching this one show, then I ended up buying the dvd. Heaven's Tree/Tree of Heaven, omg I cried through the whole thing. It's a kind of weird story about a girl and her step-brother falling in love. It's suppose to be the third installment of Stairway To Heaven.

Ok, I must recommend "Dool-ah-wa-yo Soon-Ae-sshi" (trans. Come Back, Soon-Ae). By far, this is one of the most entertaining comedies I've watched all year. Pacing is very good... I don't recall any scenes that drag the story along (you can tell those are a waste of time)... quite a few parodies thrown in here and there (some from other Korean dramas/films, as well as Hollywood films like "The Matrix" and "Basic Instinct"). I would definitely say this drama is not predictable like many others... in fact, I was thrown completely off while watching Episode 9. I won't spoil it, so you'll have to see for yourself!
The storyline is similar to "Freaky Friday," except the switch is not between mother and daughter, but instead the two women entangled in a a love triangle with one man. Huh Soon Ae is the main character, but she is portrayed by both Shim Hye Jin and Park Jin Hee (mostly PJH, after the switch, which is why I think she basically stole the limelight). Soon Ae is married to Yoon Il Suk, a pilot, who was secretly having an affair with one of the flight attendants he works with, Han Cho Eun. The women come face to face, and meet with a car accident, which causes their souls to switch. In the beginning, they attempt all sorts of methods to switch back, but were unsuccessful... therefore, they decide to live in each others' bodies and pretend to be one another. You'll see an "ahjumma" acting like one in the body of an "agashi" and vice versa. I also love the side characters, like the flight attendants, Soon Ae's best friends, and Cho Eun's family. side note: initially, Jung Woong In was slated to play the husband/pilot, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. He appeared in a different drama but it would've been better had he been able to take part. Overall, I can only say good things about this drama. If you're bored of the typical storyline, this is something fresh/different... and funny! Park Jin Hee is so underrated, and I hope after this drama, she's given more opportunities to showcase her talent. She'll be appearing in another drama with Park Shin Yang next Feb./March, but the storyline doesn't sound very appealing to me. official site: µ¹¾Æ¿Í¿ä ¼ø¾Ö¾¾ ![]() the four main characters: Yoon Da Hoon (as Yoon Il Suk), Shim Hye Jin (as Hun Soon Ae), Park Jin Hee (as Han Cho Eun), Lee Jae Hwang (as Jang Hyun Woo) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Did anybody catch Goong S yet? the first two episodes already aired (wed/thurs)... i wanted to watch it live on the internet, but couldn't due to the time difference. this drama is not supposed to be related to Goong 1 in any way, but it has the same feel, perhaps due to the same director and writer.
any thoughts yet? i'm still undecided about this drama (not considered a sequal or spin-off due to legal issues with Goong 1's production company). i'm looking forward to seeing some palace mischief... so far, it sounds predictable (the love triangles/scandals and whatnot). with the exception of Park Shin Hye, the other 3 main leads are relatively inexperienced. i do hope they'll make a real sequel happen soon... it sounds like they are working on getting the original cast together again. personally, i don't care for YEH as Chae-Gyung... but i'd love to see Joo Ji Hoon and Kim Jung Hoon as rivals again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
