True, the Skinner was totally random. I just think there would be way too much randomness if they throw in the reporter as a killer as well. So would that make her the vacation killer as well? In which case, what was the deal with LaGuerta and Batista getting the hell shot at when they arrive on the scene of a potential witness, and actually happen upon Rose, who they were looking for in the first place?

And for the life of me I can't see them making Dexter out to be so dead wrong on his blood analysis and powers of deduction/sleuthing. Dexter is the one who (in typical brilliant form) identified Rose as the vacation killer, based on his blood work. So the reporter can't be the vacation killer. We already have the vacation killers as the random guys, and now the reporter on top of it? I can't see it, unless of course she's connected to Trinity. His daughter perhaps? Which would be mind-blowing on several levels, not the least of which would be that Trinity isn't quite the absolute loner serial killer that Dexter currently thinks he is. This would be a huge twist given how much time Dexter has spent analysing his serial-killing longevity in light of having a family, compared to the solitary Trinity.

Again, it would be too obvious for Trinity to be the one who shot Deb & Lundy, and yet I can't get away from the theory that whoever shot them must have either been Trinity or had something to do with Trinity. Because only Trinity stood to gain from Lundy's death, and I just don't see Anton being that jealous (and crazy, to also shoot Deb). Maybe they don't even intend Lundy's shooter to be some kind of "mystery", which is how we're treating it right now because we didn't get a look at the killer. If it's not a mystery to begin with, that does away with my "too obvious" objection.

I was finally able to watch the last two episodes I misssed and I am completely overwhelmed so I can't be coherent. I'll have to compose more later.

But I have to say this: During the female cop death scene - Was anyone else really cheering Dexter when he realized that he didn't want to lose his family? And how he even went as far as to say that he'd rather is secret be found out than hurt them? And his face when he realized it? I loved it!! I bought that hook line and sinker. MCH is a fabulous actor and I really had to say "Take that, Harry!" because lately I'm really not sure this "angel on my shoulder" Harry has Dex's best interests at heart. I don't believe that Dexter is anywhere near the monster his father taught him to believe he was.

I'm horrible with names of random side-show characters. I'm talking about the vacation killer. Dexter found a drop of blood on a cactus outside the hotel room, analyzed it and found some rare form of syphilis, and ran a search on clinic databases and narrowed it down to someone called Rose. Could have just as easily been someone called Manix and I simply butchered his name. Anyway, that's who shot at LaGuerta and Batista.

I also loved it when he beat the crap out of the cop lady, and said "surprise" and put the syringe in his mouth and beat her up some more. God, this show is so thoroughly satisfying . It delivers, and delivers, and delivers. "what's with all this rape stuff? there's no rape going on!" or something like that. Yep, his interactions with the cop lady, throughout the episode, where brilliant.

I too thought it was Trinity that shot Lundy and Deb, and took the wallet to make it look like the tourist killers. Because these killings were not part of his normal ritual. he had to step out and make it look like something else, hence the wallet. I was totally heartbroken. that was pretty powerful scene, watching Deb watching her love die. So if it was Trinity that shot them, can you imagine how much more blood there is on Quinn's hands? But we shall see. There are many twists and turns in the show, so it could have been anyone.
Deco, as always, I agree with everything you said. I now have my DH hooked on this show, and we have watched the last episode twice, and we can't wait for the next show. DH even said last night that he would gladly pay to watch it - we went to see a horrible movie last weekend, and we wasted our money there. DH and I both agree that the writing and acting in this series of so much better than 99.9% of the movies that we pay a fortune to go and see.

When you watch a second time, you always see little things you didn't see the first time.

I am so obsessed with Dexter.

We all needed a break from Rita and the kids. It was lovely that they were gone!

Deb and Lundy - I did not see them being gunned down - caught me totally by surprise! I really didn't think Deb would be injured again - at least not soon. She is not that far removed from her near death experience with Dexter's brother. And I loved Lundy - I felt that at some level he knew that Dexter was a serial killer, and he kept his silence because he knew Dexter was ridding the world of evil.

I'm going to read a lot of pages of posts that I have missed. Hugs to all of my fellow Dexter addicts!

Spoiler...not like there's not a ton already...

I read the synopsis page for the upcoming episodes in the season (found a link somewhere...I can look for it if anyone is interested) and Lundy doesn't appear in any future episodes. He's gone :(

On the IMDB Dexter forum (where I found the link to the synopsis page) they are saying that the recorder Lundy had was taken from his pocket (instead of or also with? his wallet). If that's the case, I bet it's Trinity.

That's how I felt too after watching the whole two seasons back to back in like one day

PS. I loved that scene too.
