I just re-read all the posts and I don't think that anyone's purpose was to bash Tano. I think people gave their honest opinions (as did I). I frequently come to TPF for reviews on bags that I am considering buying and I want to hear everybody's opinion not just the people who have positive reviews. My concern is that once a brand gets a sub-forum it becomes difficult to get a variety of viewpoints on a bag esp. if everyone is encouraged to only post positive opinions. If I'm considering buying a bag, I want to know if someone found the straps too short/had a hard time getting in and out of the bag/had quality issues/found that the leather degraded over time etc. It's not something people should take personally....everyone has different tastes, that's why there is such a wonderful variety of bags to choose from

I think you will find that everyone here will give you their honest opinion. I recall a while ago Tano Expert didn't recommend a bag to someone who was inquiring about it (can't remember the name of the bag) saying something about the handles not being comfortable on the shoulder. You should feel free to ask anything you want here. Not every sub-forum is as gung ho as the Tano one. I've spent time in just about all of the sub forums-lol. I remember being in the Kooba SF once and everyone was saying how the quality of those bags has not been the same lately and pretty much complaining about the leather and lining. On the Coach forum, you always see complaints about the prices of the bags going up every season and that the bags go to the outlets too quickly and I can't tell you how many times I read about bad customer service with many Coach stores if you try to return a bag. Again, these comments were right in the SF of the bags mentioned. Sorry about my long reply! Everyone should feel free to ask their questions in the sub forum created for that brand. JMHO.

^ I agree. And I think when/if Tano significantly increases their prices and/or decreases their quality, you will see similar opinions reflected here. No one is, or should be, a brand cheerleader when the brand doesn't deserve it, and if a number of posters here receive bags with issues it will certainly be discussed.

The only thing I think ought to be avoided in subforums are people who don't own any of the bags and harbor a grudge against a brand for the preconceptions and stereotypes they associate with it.

Not what the shareholders would want to hear, but I kind of hope they don't get too crazy-popular, and that the Tano brand can hang on to the style/leather/price niche its loyal customer family loves. I am doing my part.

As I've said before, it seems that when any brand becomes immensely popular, the quality of the bag goes down. I guess when you need to crank out the bags, it becomes harder to control the quality.
That being said, I expect all of my bags to hold up and if they don't I expect the brand to stand behind their name. I have owned lots of higher end bags -- bbags, ferragamo, etc. I have received great customer service from those companies. If I get a bag and the service is terrible, I never buy that brand again. It's kind of a no brainer for me.

I completely agree! Reading forums can be fun (and expensive) but my primary purpose is research. I do much of my shopping on the Net - even in a big city there is no one store that carries everything you can find online. So I need honesty, not just a fan club. Which is what brings me to post...

I've now ordered and returned four different Tano bags, two crunch and two lenny. They're simply not for me for a variety of reasons. Too big without organization, too shiny, thin trim leather that looks worn out, lenny is more distressed looking than I expected, etc. etc. However, I still think that they look fabulous in photos, and I might be led to try again 'cause I keep thinking about the French Nanny!

P.S. Lest anyone think I'm a bag snob, I rarely spend more than $200 on a bag and I hate to pay full retail for anything!
