I saw that too! But at least for the next 2 months or so you can get ignes for under $250! I think most styles are only going up around $45 from what I read and there will still be the TPF discount to bring the price back down thank goodness! But coco girl is right about the prices increasing in Spring 09. I wonder how long before it hits other brands too. That is why I need to find a beloved gray bag soon!

Does anyone know if there will be a gray Tano this Fall? I didn't see one but want to make sure I didn't miss something. I do love paintednightsky's gray Ignes and am watching the gray challenge thread in the general forum for ideas.....thanks TygerKitty!!

Haha, no problem BabyBlue! I'm desperate for a gray bag!

I believe a gray boogie is being made? Other than that, I have no idea!

I love the colors, and I actually really like the nylon-type lining. It is soft and doesn't rub or cause wear to my accessories inside the bag (unlike suede linings and thicker cotton linings). The purpose of a thin, slick lining is to keep the weight down and not to cause any abrasion to things inside the bag. Despite the thin linings, I've never had one snag or rip, even though I toss my keys in with no protection and often rummage around in them. Anyway, maybe I'm just easy to please, but I love the linings, too!

Well, i was one of the folks that posted in this thread when it was in the general forum and I still check in on the subforum from time to time to see on the new fall bags coming in. I'm sorry to see that some took offense to some of the opinions given, especially since they were given when this thread was started in the general forum.

I feel a responsibility to post an honest review of a bag if a question is asked, no matter what forum it is presented in. I know if it were me and I was undecided as to whether to purchase a bag or not I'd want to be able to make as informed opinion as possible. Subforums are not always the best place for unbiased reviews so I think that's why peeps generally like to ask these questions in the main handbag forum.

Getting to the lining - mine has started to fray and I've had it for less than a year. However, while I do find the leather to be thin and I've had a few other issues with the bag, the leather has held up really well - as I stated in my response to the OP. That doesn't mean I've given up on the brand, I am seriously considering a new French Nanny when the fall colors hit. It's tempting because I do think these bags have a great look, even if they do have a few issues I'm not entirely pleased about.

^^Linda P, Tano's linings don't usually fray. When this problem first started to occur, you should have contacted the retailer that you bought it from. They should have repaired it for you at no charge. The longer you wait, the worse fraying will become.. and once you get beyond the 1 year warrantee period, your retailer may not be willing to help you.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But there do seem to be some unspoken "rules of decorum" on TPF. Its normal for a brand to get bashed on the general forum, but not in its own SF, which is what what many of us thought was happening here. (Many of us weren't aware that this thread was moved here from the general board.)

We just want to keep the Tano SF a friendly place, that's all. :)

Linda, I don't mind anyone who gives an honest assessment of a bag. No one can speak to your experience except you. Honestly, I didn't remember who had mentioned the linings, so I definitely wasn't trying to target you or anyone in my comment! I just wanted to give my own view. Like I said, maybe I'm just easy to please!

^^ I agree TE and I also think that the TANO subforum has some of the nicest members. And the fact that you are here, TE, is such a great thing because you have such a wealth of knowledge on TANO's. And...where else can you find someone like VOODOO who gets us all hyped up for a bag the way she does?? And TYGERKITTY has new photo's every week that we can look forward to (sometimes more than once a week-lol!). Never mind the general forum, I've been in quite a few sub forums and things can get pretty heated when someone makes the wrong comment-or maybe someone just misunderstood someone elses comment(s) it becomes a free for all. It's to the point where the mods have to step in and close the thread! I've never seen that here and hope I never do.

Divergent opinions are healthy, and give anyone thinking of buying a Tano bag the kind of information they're looking for about what to expect. If they're sharp enough to be here looking for information, they're sharp enough to sort it out. I read all kinds of pros and cons about Tano before I took the plunge, and here I am, looking at my fourth and fifth Tano bags.

I think this is a great thread, really. I never once got the feeling while reading it that anyone was anything but expressing an opinion. Opinions bring in fresh air and new voices. I'm always highly suspicious of brands where no dissent is allowed and the atmosphere resembles that of a cult. Once that happens, I know the brand has peaked!

^^haha we wouldnt want that!

Im not out to be the "TPF niceness enforcer" or the "protector of the Tano brand" so maybe I'll just keep my mouth shut whenever someone is critical of the brand from now on.

I just don't want to see this SF get filled with DRAMA like some others do. Its so nice here and I would hate to see that change. But maybe Im expecting too much... I guess I cant insist that people be "nice" on TPF the same way that I do in my own household!

I think the nice environment we create here will in itself deal with any prickliness. It's such a friendly place that once people get the miff out of their system over whatever fault they find, they'll settle down and look around and think, "Gee, this is such a nice place, maybe I'll stop back and take a look around."

We really do have one of the nicest groups, I think.

It's all right, no sweat!

I actually just passed the bag down to my 15 year old daughter who has been hinting for months that she'd really love to have the bag. She wants to shove her extra jacket (it actually fits) or her binder in there (it sticks out the top but she doesn't care) - so I'm sure it will see a lot more use and abuse before it's retired. The first day she wore it she got a compliment on it at the doctor's office and was positively beaming.

I will say this.... Tano is wildly successful at three things:

1. Colors (my gaw the colors...even the linings!!)
2. Quality (the attention to detail is amazing!)
3. Design (talk about eye catching!)

Now...

Combine this with the most unreal array of delightful leathers and you have *PING* the damb near perfect bag every time. I'm not saying imperfections don't happen...it's impossible for natural materials to be 100% perfect...but...

Consider the Tano staple Crunch leather...the hand staining makes for unreal tonal variations. The depth of the hues makes each bag an original unto itself. The sturdiness of Crunch leather means you don't have to 'baby' the bag like you would others. Also, as Crunch leather wears it almost molds itself to you. After I broke my Boogies in (only about a good solid week of carrying) I can put either of them over my shoulder and both of them pout into the perfect shoulder bag shape and just snugs up against my side... ahhh

My Crunch leather Baby Daddy has a much deeper drop and a completely different body shape. As such, she felt broken in the day she arrived and full or empty she holds this amazing, sexy shape.

And I haven't even mentioned how these Crunch bag smell. Ohh I still bury my face in each bag when I switch!!

OH and did I mention........ You can generally buy 2 Tanos for every 1 of many other brands...wheeeee!

Also, just because a bag costs more doesn't mean it's flawless either. My Bbag and LV have stitching flaws. I was pretty surprised when I saw this on my shoulder strap of my Bbag (it's not noticible unless you are looking-but still) I expected perfection after paying what I paid for it. My LV has a loose stitch on the handle, it costs 3 times the price of a Tano. Oh, and my Burberry tote (with feet on the bottom) is lopsided when you place it on a flat surface! I still love all my bags but it's a little discouraging-oh well!
