Sending the rain to KMH and Bike Chick.. you can both have it!

We caught a break. It rained really hard from 4-8... then stopped so we could have fireworks around 10. I am sorry to complain about the rain so much when you guys are talking about how in need you are of it.

Kmh, your house looks really beautiful and spacious! How much longer until it's done?

Odeb, hope you can find a way grin and bear your MIL. Margaritas sound like good medicine!

Thanks everybody! The house turned out better than I expected. Luckily the builder had a great design lady who practically held my hand through the selections. That is one thing I lack, the ability to visualize colors and textures together unless it is laid out in front of me. The house came with some really cool standard features. I think they added a lot of stuff on in order to get people to come out and buy. Liz, I'll bet your house is just adorable and after the rennovations it is gonna be awesome. Celts, that island is gonna be my "dining room table" for a while until I find one that fits in that little space behind it. Kitty, I think the house is pretty much done-they are just doing "touch ups" now. I get my keys on Tuesday (have to call in sick for work). They will call me once my loan and title "record" and they say that usually happens by 10am.

Odeb, how is your day going? Mix anymore MIL Margaritas?

congrats, k... your house looks amazing! We are just about to start a remodel and addition on our house, which we bought in may of 2007 but havent moved into yet. Ive been obsessing over the architectural plans for the past 2 years. Cant wait to get started!

I'm really sick :( I coached gymnastics all day today and wasn't feeling well (really painful stomach ache when I woke up) and came home with a 101.1 F fever!

Voo.. good luck on the gerard and love that @ "MIL margaritas" lol nice!

Kris...your house looks beautiful!!! I agree...older houses have charm...but sometimes...charm comes with a BIG price tag when you look at rennovations etc...enjoy your new house!!!

Well, i survived yesterday...dropped the dogs off at doggie daycamp at 7, got my SIl and came back to my house to make signs to put at the turns on the roads to direct people, then we went to Costco to get my ordered food and cakes...only they did not have my food order...thankfully they were able to drop what they were doing and make it, but I had to wait 30 minutes...and I know i filled the form out right since the cakes were done on the right day...oh well, but that put me late getting back which meant no time for decorations, although DH didn't really want them anyhow, but MIL did, so I was going to do minimal to appease both...it was HOT, but with fans and the shaded pavillion turned out ok...MIL crabbed that I didn't have pickles, and how there were no decorations and no ceremony around cake cutting and probably more I do not even know about, but all in all I think it went well...my goal for the day ended up being if DH left happy, it was all good.

Dogs flunked overnight with MIL and FIL, o I have been up since 4am...oh well...family picture is this morning, so my goal is to have everything stay good until after then, and then I can relax...and I do think there will be some drinks tonight with BIL and SIL....

Anyways, I have EARNED my teal immeasureable!

Yes, Odeb you did earn your teal Immeasureable. Other than a few bumps, sounds like it is going pretty good. Yikes, I didn't know there was supposed to be a cake cutting ceremony. Time to pour up the MIL margaritas. :)

I just did my first walk through for my house today and it looks great. They got that baby up in about 10 weeks, which is 6 weeks ahead of schedule. Found a few minor things (actually I didn't see them, the builder rep did). I get my keys on 6/30. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will close in time to apply for the California new home tax rebate (which is almost running out). I don't have to move in right away since I didn't think I was going to be moving until mid August. Gives me time to put old stuff in storage and slowly move the stuff I do want in the house in and also get the window coverings up. I've been starting to box things up and actually am getting kind of appalled at how much I've accummulated over the years. I'm finding clothes with tags on them, shoes that have never been worn. :(

Congrats on your house! Good luck with your move. I agree on the "stuff" accumulation. Isn't it horrifying once you really take a good inventory? Oh well, luckily I enjoy purging (almost) as much as I love shopping! They are both cathartic in their own way.

Well, family photo is done, and all went well...I think we will have fabulous photos...and MIL FIL and SIL have left...my BIL and his wife are here until tomorrow...then life returns to normal!
