Question Tano and my macbook?
Hi all. I've been wanting a tano for a year now. I've been working and taking classes so I think a messenger style is what I need. I've been using an old messenger bag for a year and slip my macbook pro 15" into it wrapped in a slim laptop sleeve.

Oh the hours I've spent lusting over all the lovely tano bags! I'm sorely tempted right now to buy a mona lethal or hunt down a butane jane. Do you think either of these would work with my macbook? I don't mind if it's a bit of a tight fit.

My other concern is that the strap needs to be strong. I wear my current messenger bag while riding a scooter. I stuff heavy things in there and since I'm a bit short the bag rests on the seat behind me. I still sometimes worry about what would happen if I ever used a bag with a weak strap. Can the tano straps take the weight of a couple books?

Hope you have some answers for me! I've loved looking at all of the pics of your bags, btw!

Hey there!!! Welcome to the Tano subforum and TPF and the Tano brand!!! hehe

I have carried my laptop in a few of my tanos (only have a handful that will actually fit my laptop case) and although neither are the ML or BJ... I think either of those would be fine (provided they are large enough). Tanos are strong and the handles are secured well; I've never had a problem with any of mine and I have hauled a LOT of heavy loads to school and back over the years!

Hi, Tanya!

I've never had a Tano messenger bag but I'm sure the quality is as high as their shoulderbags. I'm pretty sure I could carry a bowling ball with ease in my Women Unite or Boogie Bucket.

Welcome to The Purse Forum!!! I hope you hang around and chat about Tanos with us!

Good luck picking out a new bag!!

Hi there, not sure what size your Macbook is, but the Mona Lethal is not very big. I just bought one, and there's no way I could get my regular laptop into it. I'm using it like I would any other handbag, and it's stuffed full (it's not very deep). That's my two cents.

I've never actually carried a bowling ball although sometimes it's felt like it!

My Macbook is the 15" model so the longest side is 15" and the shortest is a couple inches shorter. I was afraid the mona lethal might be too tight of a squeeze. I don't mind if when I carry the macbook it sticks out an inch or so since I'll have it in a little snug fabric case, but I don't want to struggle stuffing it in. I love the look of the mona lethal. Since I'm only 5'3" I worry about the size of a bag being a bit much for me so that seemed a nice size. But the dimensions were a bit worrisome when I considered my macbook. If only it were just a bit bigger!

So maybe the butane jane if I can fine one? What are some other cross body messengers that I should consider? (Discontinued styles are okay too - I'm willing to stalk ebay.)

(Thanks for the welcome, everyone!)

hi tanya! welcome to the tano forum! i have a mona lethal (in case you can't guess from my handle!) and i use it for my macbook all the time. it doesn't zip when the mac is in there, but the mac doesn't really' stick out, either. i still have room for my wallet, bb, phone, sunglasses, etc. the outside pockets really help. it can be a tight fit, but it works. and i never doubt the sturdiness of the cross-body strap, which is nice and wide and super comfortable. also: i don't use my fabric case when i carry the mac in my mona lethal - doesn't seem necessary since it's so well protected! hope that helps.

Who Needs Diamonds When We Have Garnet??

Above is a link to my new garnet Mona Lethal thread. There's a modeling pic in there so you can try to gauge its size. I'm 5'2", but I'm not telling my weight, LOL!

Oh cool. Photos of the bags in action in real life are my favorite part of this forum. I've been digging through the threads trying to find them

monalethalfan, I do love that bag. Hmmm. Is your macbook a 15"? The ML really is my fav so far I think.

^I know! It was a big toss-up for me whether to get garnet or flame...but I have been going on and on about garnet for months now, so I figured I'd better stick to the color plan. I think this bag rocks in Flame, though. Flame is one of those colors that, IMO, doesn't work on all the styles. It's perfect for the ML.

Tano cross body's are fantastic! I have a bag called Card Counter in bison.. and I swear I can fill it to the gils, and it still doesn't feel too heavy. A bag made my heart skip, so she's coming to visit!!

The straps have always felt strong and secure. I also got a cross body called a bauhaus which is another cross body winner in my book! Reveal: ...and the Mystery Black crunch bag is... Same story... I fill her top the top with work books, files, lunch, water bottle, sweater, and novel.. and she carries a great shape and always feels very secure.

Can't wait to see what you pick! And welcome to our Tano bag crazy neck of the woods!!

Oh, Card Counter is nice! I think Bauhaus looks like the perfect bag though. I'm kinda crushing on it right now! Are they still being made or are they older? (Sorry, still a bit new to Tano)

Bauhaus has completely stolen my heart right now too, I have been carrying her everyday to work and can't seem to put her down. It's not an active style right now.

Their are similar bags being made like Stop in Your Tracks (http://www.musthavebag.com/Stop-in-Y...ks-P53C48.aspx) It's the same face with the studs and pocket... this one is a little less East-West (thanks again to Voo for helping me figure that out), but look at the measurements and see if it would work? Also, this is a different type of leather, but man oh man that blue is lovely! Ok, so it's 13 by 13... I wonder if that fits your laptop? Hmmm..

Ok, so maybe not... but Take a Vow in bella leather.. yum! Is 15x15... and looks so functional and chic at the same time. (http://www.musthavebag.com/Take-a-Vow--P105C48.aspx)

Sorry for rambling, but I am enjoying helping anyway! Can't wait to see which bags call out to you!
