TANO INSOMNIAC!!!!!

Default MORE new styles and colors??!?!? I am confused!

hi all - I am new to Tano this season so forgive my ignorance here. I have been on the forum since May, and thought I had some idea (thanks to all of you wonderful posters) about how Tano works, and the new bags for fall. Now there are bags I never heard of on Luna Boston (I knew about Glitterati, but Found At Last and Fashion Temple??), and there are two new colors of Boogie on eBay (Congo Green and Coral and the auctions say Fall colors??). It just seems like the world of Tano is so random, and when you think you have your mind made up (after weeks of agony!), more new stuff comes out. Is it like this every new season? Why do so many sellers have such a different selection of bags? Help!!

I think that you can really never know with Tano what is coming out.
Case in point I thought that Lilac would be introduced for New spring crunch bags. Tano made the Lilac Boogie in very limited quantities and will not be making any other spring lilac bags in crunch leather. Apparently it depends on how well something is received by the retailers.
Lilac was not received well. I understand that Tano found some Congo green crunch leather lying around and decided to make some Boogie Buckets with it after already showing their fall line, they also did this with Gray/green Boogie Bucket which is made in limited quantities and only sold at certain places. Tano it seems makes special bags in special colors for certain vendors/retailers like Luna Boston or Bergdorf Goodman in NY. These might be styles and colors which will never be seen anywhere else.
For this reason you can really never know with Tano. It seems like they
are always full of surprises.

^^^I saw the Boogie in Congo Green and Coral on eBay as well. Congo Green was a Fall '07 color and they had extra leather left over so they made some boogies with it. As for Coral, I had seen the color and knew it was for some boogies, but I'm not sure if it's an old color or not. Either way they're both gorgeous! If I didn't just get a Grape boogie I would be all over that Congo Green. As far as not ever seeing some of the styles on LB before, it's my understanding--which could TOTALLY be wrong--that Tano has a tendency to put up links for retailers (which TPFers ALWAYS manage to find) and may only make enough bags to fill their orders. So, though it may disappear from the link, you may still be able to find it in stores. A good example of this is the "Cover to Cover" bag that was posted here in a link someone found on Tano's website. I thought TE said that it didn't make the cut but musicgirl saw one on a recent trip! Retailers have also told me that Tano will only cut more bags of a certain style if they have a request list of over 50 or so. So, if the need is not really significant, too bad so sad! You can't get mad though because I LOVE not seeing Tano everywhere! I really hope I'm right about my assumptions because I never lose hope of finding a Tano I think didn't make the grade!!--in that case TE literally has to say that it fell hard on its face...then I just get sad

I just find this all so frustrating! When you only have so much to spend in a season, it's nice to be presented with all your options up front so you can make solid decisions. I am a SUPER indecisive person, so this is rough! You make up your mind on what bags you are finally going to choose, buy them, only to find out, oh, look at that, a new style and color just popped up! I am ready to tear my hair out and am actually losing sleep thinking about these bags, always wondering what am I going to miss! Yes, I need to get a grip here :)

For me, part of the allure of Tano is never knowing what's around the corner. I find most bag designers churn out the same things over and over... who needs it! Yes, Tano may only make a handful of a style in a certain color and then decide to not run the line. That makes those items rare and a real find if you can grab one.

For me, I know that there's no way I can get everything I want in every color Tano makes...so I just buy what I can and buy from retailers that have customer service conducive to exchanges! haha

^^For your first Tano, buy from a reputable etailer with a solid return policy: Musthavebag, lunaboston, thatsourbag. Once you decide that Tano is the right brand for you and/or you want a past season bag that you don't intend to return then it is safe to look on eBay.

I heard about the Congo Green and was able to special order a boogie through LB (they let me use the grechen code ). It's on its way now. Actually, it's kind of fun, you never know what Tano will be doing!

I agree that it can be completely frustrating (especially with limited funds!) but it's SO fun!!!! I try to get a good idea of what MIGHT be coming out by the secret links we always find lol. I snoop around and then email TE to find out if they're going to make what I'm interested in... if yes, then great... if not then I force myself to move on because there's no use crying over spilt milk. It is what it is. No mater how much I love my bags I will always find more that I love and add to my collection. It's just a fact of life and I have come to terms with it lol. Sometimes it's best just to make a decision and when you love the bag you have just be thankful you are able to have that one bag. It can be hard if you spend a lot of time on TPF to stay rational about it all but you just have to step away and look around you at the beautiful things you already own!
