thanks for the great advice TE. I looked at the Tarrago link, and holy cow, that's alot of colors! How the heck would you know which to pick to match up with the current Tano colors, like avocado and blueberry?

you can ask for a color chart, I believe... then order a bunch to match your bags and shoes!

Bike Chick, the DEAN leather is rough and abrasive and kinda scabby (ouch!). Sorry for my bluntness. It looks REALLY cool- I happen to love that really distressed look- but when you touch it its not appealing in the slightest.

Thanks TE - I like the look, but I don't know if it is worth the trade-off on the feel of the leather. It just isn't sounding very appealing. Like there aren't any others to choose from - at least that narrows it down a bit.

Hi. I'm a first time poster who has really fallen hard for Tano's styles and colours. I remember being on the hunt for a Shopper in Ocean a long, long time ago, but couldn't track one down.

So...I'm now looking to buy my first Tano, but can't decide between some of the Spring vs. Fall colours, and am a bit confused about the different greens and browns that I'm seeing. I've been looking at pics of the Lawn and Avocado Boogie in Crunch, as well as the My Photo in Fresh Olive in Lenny leather. I see that the Avocado is darker (and more versatile?) than the Lawn, but are Lawn and Fresh Olive similar in colour? And do you think that the Lenny leather would be good for a messenger style bag, or is it too soft and squishy?

As well, I love the Truffle Boogie, but am wondering if Fudgesicle is a better choice since I wear a lot of black. I've seen pics separately, but never side by side, and I have not been fortunate enough to have seen any of the Tano bags in person. Your thoughts? Sorry, a lot of questions. I'm been holding them in for a while!

the avocado is more olive-y and the lawn and fresh olive are more apple-y.

The truffle is really dark. Its gorgeous and rich, but maybe you would like more of a contrast with your black clothes, so maybe the fudgesickle would be better for you.

Tano's most popular messenger bags is the mona lethal (crunch leather). Definitely check that out. I have one myself and I adore it. Last season's my photo (lenny leather) was also popular. This seasons tribal master (velvet leather) is a hit, too. I don't think it matters which leather you choose in a messenger style- that's just a question of your own likes and dislikes.

Hi TE,

Does Quick Witted have an outter zipper which expands the bag? It looks like it from the pictures but just want to make sure. Also, there was something about the 2 outer pockets...I think MHB said production may adjust them or keep only one?

thanks

Hi Tano Expert,

Thank you for this great thread. I'm sorry to read about your Mom's treatments and hope they are very successful...and sorry, too, for your injury. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us all despite you very busy life.

My question is a newbie question, so I apologize up front. Am I to understand that Tano switches out leathers each season? I love grape, blueberry, and truffle and would eventually like a bag in each, but I can't get all three this season. Am I out of luck on the colors/leathers returning?

^^thanks for your well wishes! Things are looking up now.

Tano does change its colors every season. They sometimes offer a similar color the next season or sometime in the future, but its extremely rare that they offer the identical color twice.

Tano also offers new materials each season. Crunch has been a standard material for tano for the past few years, though.

Thank you and OH MY! Crunch is the name of the leather for the grape, blueberry, and truffle? Well, guess I'll have to prioritize. Thank you, Tano Expert.

Yes, the crunch leather is offered in the following colors this season: pomegranate, mandarin, avocado, blueberry, grape, raspberry, truffle and black licorice.

crunch leather colors for next season (Spring 09) are: sour cherry, orange peel, lemon drop, green apple, berry blue, blue hawaiian, plum jelly, caramel and black.

hi TE-thanks for your response on my previous question regarding the color comparison of this season's mandarin vs. next season's caramel. One last question on the matter please - what color trim do you think will be on the caramel bags most likely, black or brown? This is a big deal breaker for me, as I don't want to pass up the chance to get a manadarin now if the caramel has black trim. TIA!!

WM, Im sorry but I dont know for sure what the trim combos will be for Spring 09. I would assume that the caramel will have dark brown trim. Tano has made some samples for Spring 09 in caramel and they've all had dark brown trim. I cant imagine that it would be black. In fact I cant imagine black trim would be put on orange peel, lemon drop, green apple or caramel... those colors cry out for brown trim, IMHO. The other colors might look good with black or brown (sour cherry, pink lemonade, berry blue, blue hawaian, plum jelly and black)

Are blueberry and berry blue significantly different? grape and plum jelly? Is there anything comparable to truffle?

If I adore all three colors, which do you recommend grabbing first?

berry blue is a much lighter, brighter shade of blue than blueberry. Plum jelly is much lighter shade of purple than grape. The only brown for Spring is caramel, which is more tan than brown- not at all like the truffle, which is super dark.

I cat really advise you on your color choices- thats entirely up to you! I love the blueberry and grape this season, but for the spring I love the green apple and caramel.
