I was just about to say you live with them in a non-vacation scenario! People are usually on their best behavior on vacation in my experience.

i think travel can be pretty accurate! yeah people are on their best behaviors on vacation but travel can actually be pretty stressful and how people handle themselves in other cultures, etc can be a pretty true view of who they are! it might not be the same for sitting on a relaxing beach somewhere...but traveling through europe or other part of the world can be a pretty good indicator because youre actually interacting with people living their normal lives rather than just resort staff there to please you on a beach vacation. does that make sense?

One thing I've noticed is that if a person is well-off financially, comes into some money, makes it big in their career, whatever, it really shows you what they are really like. When you see a guy who is wealthy and he still treats the guy who busses tables at a restaurant or picks up the trash or washes his car, etc., with respect, you know he's a decent man. Some people get a little ahead in life and you can see that deep down they are really a jerk. They probably were all along, but just never could let their true colors show.
