You know, the only thing I don't like is the way he did it. What I mean is he throws out a grenade, then runs away leaving you to deal with the "what is it" worries. Maybe I am just being jaded, but I don't think this is a good way for a man to deal with things, so if you stay together you might want to work on this so it does not become a pattern.

So, if I may summarize. Our speculation/choices are:
Prior marriage? Current marriage? Kids you don't know about? Terrible credit? Criminal record? Sickness? STD? AIDS? he's not over an ex, he cheated, criminal record (again), huge debt or a child from a previous relationship,
had sex with a man, he's gay and my personal favorite: Maybe he's a porn star!

Seriously, what does he expect from you when he lobs that kind of statement at you? IMO - he has serious communication issues as well as whatever the heck this thingie is that he has to tell you but can't just yet.
