This has happened more then once with this person. A month or so ago we were out and I pointed to a bag I had and they replied "oh I don't like that" I did not know what to say. I just did not respond.

Then just the other day, I got my first new bag of the year.
Come see my first new bag of the year

They proceeded to say "oh I hate Vernis, why would you buy it, it is ugly" I said I like Vernis and that is why I bought it. They rolled their eyes at me and changed the subject.

We are not good friends so I don't really care what they think. But I just find it totally rude and don't really know what to say. Even if I don't like something someone just bought, I would NEVER tell them I hated it and thought it was ugly. They must have liked it enough to buy it. Why make someone feel bad???

Yes, this person is VERY into bags. So it is not like they don't understand.

Congratulations on your new to you bag. I'm on a major ban, but have a few vernis pieces and saw the blue out right now. I want it... in the zippy wallet. There is no better larger size wallet in my opinion. I love it.

Anyway, some people just rain on other parades for some reason.

you know, in this case, i honestly wouldn't be offended. the style of a handbag is subjective—like fashion and art. not everybody will like your bag, but as long as you like it, what does it matter what they think? you're the one who paid for it, so just enjoy it and don't get caught up with what they think. kwim?

also, maybe they just feel like your friendship is that close that they can be honest with you—even if they don't realize you were offended? i don't know. just something to ponder.

my friends think i'm an idiot for ever spending anything more than $100 for a bag—no kidding. so the fact that i have carried $500+ handbags is just odd to them, if not insane. me? i think they're crazy for spending $100+ for a pair of ugly athletic sneakers, but that's their thing. we all have our thing.

enjoy it—it's a gorgeous bag. for me, NO louis vuitton is ugly!

I would say your friend is jealous... and then say, "Thanks, you are just too kind." And leave it at that and enjoy your new bag. Some people are just rude.

No, we are barely acquaintances... FAR from close friends. If it was a close friend, I would not be as bothered by it. I would think exactly what you said. They thought we were close enough to be honest with each other.

Back to your story --- it seems that this acquaintance of yours was trying to make you feel bad about your new bag because she was obviously and plainly jealous that you were able to splurge and treat yourself to something wonderful. I agree --- she was definitely very RUDE.

Try to ignore her stupid comments. Congrats on your perle Summit drive and wear this beautiful bag with pride!
