People like to say things like: "Oh take a bubble bath and pamper yourself" etc but I am self-employed and have a flexible schedule so I always have time to pamper myself and do so already anyways... so what else is there to do??
I usually watch tv, surf on-line, post on different forums, sometimes work (also on the pc) so I can work and post on forums and surf at the same time, read Makeupalley, blogs etc, cook dinner for myself... I usually do the above on regular weekdays already anyways... Shouldn't I be doing something more "special" on Friday/Saturday? What else is there to do though to make the weekend special if you are alone and have no friends? lol I can't go out and do the nightlife thing by myself. So what else is there to do? It's almost midnight and I am so bored... I spent my Saturday night just on-line surfing and listening. For my late-night outing nightlife I will probably end up driving to In N Out to get some french fries before it closes. That is my "nightlife" for the weekend... |

It all depends if you're happy doing what you're doing. To me, it sounds like my type of weekend. When I was single (for a great many years), I found the weekends full with shopping and lunch out, then perhaps a trip to the matinee movie showing (because going alone in the evening feels a little uncomfortable) and then I'd grab a take-out on the way home (if I was hungry), surf the Internet at home with a glass of wine and catch up on a TV series or music on the CD player. Maybe I was happy with it because I'm relatively antisocial.
![]() If you're looking to meet other people and want to focus on 'singlies' then join a health club and go exercising on Saturday evenings. Believe me, you find a fair few singles at the gym on a Saturday night.

I usually spend Friday night alone. I take a long, relaxing shower, eat well, surf the net or read a book and go to bed late. To me that is the perfect way to spend a Friday night and also the perfect way to start the weekend.

When i moved to a new city i would spend my friday/saturday nights watching tv, mainly catching up on seasons and seasons of lost, 24, greys anatomy, sex and the city. I frequently hit the malls by myself. I spend a lot of time on the internet chatting on forums, shopping, reading the news, watching youtube. I'd often go to the market to buy snacks and groceries. I went to block busters frequently and i joined the gym and signed up for a lot of the classes they offer.

I'm technically self employed as well and have the same problem as you in trying to make weekends special because I have free time during the week and can do most things then as well.
I am married with a daughter, so I do have people to do stuff with, but even still, I can only surf the net so much and watch so much tv since I can do that during the week. Sometimes I will go out and wander the stores or malls, run errands, relax in the jacuzzi with a glass of wine and some music, watch DVDs, etc. Lately Iv have been trying to make myself go to work more during the week so I dont stay at home and I think the key now is to just try to have as normal of a work week as possible so do are free to do stuff on the weekends. See if you can focus on work only during the week day, wether it be working on existing work, trying to get new clients, thinking of ways to advertise, etc. and save your fun stuff for the weekends. |

I often find that I go out a lot more during the week- by Friday I'm completely happy to stay in, read, write and putter around online! I live in NYC so Saturdays are often crazy - I only go out about 50 percent of the time.

I grab a dog or two and head over to Starbucks downtown with my laptop. If I don't have plans with someone it makes me feel like less of a hermit if I go out and do something, even if it's just drinking over priced coffee and surfing the web among strangers.
I do find that I have met a number of really nice, interesting people doing this because everyone wants to pet the dogs. They are a good conversation starter. |

Sometimes I go out with my hubby for dinner on Friday nights but lately we've been dining at home. Since Sat and Sun are our days off, we stay home and watch dvds, get take out and just chill out or I spend my time here on TPF.

I don't like to go out or anything, so usually I'm at home reading a book, studying, online shopping
, browsing the internet, taking long showers or watch dvd's. I don't think those days have to be special at all.

Well, I often have a party or social event to go to. And if not IŽll browse internet, or go get fast food, rent a dvd, do the cleaning/tidying/shopping part.
Maybe gym sometimes. I donŽt like being on my own anymore, having to call people to meet up...so I am considering taking a roomate (yes at my old age !) |
